The Qatar Sports for All Federation, in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, is organizing the “Your Weight is Right” program for children aged 9 to 14. A new weekly session was held yesterday, Wednesday, at the training hall of Lusail Sports Hall, as part of the federation’s initiatives to promote the concept of “sports for all,” encourage healthy lifestyles among young people, and raise awareness about proper nutrition and achieving a healthy weight.
The program sessions, which run weekly on Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday afternoons, last for two hours from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. They include a variety of physical exercises such as muscular endurance and flexibility training, including planks, squats, and stretching exercises, in addition to running and other sports and recreational activities, all supervised by specialized male and female trainers.
The session witnessed strong engagement and wide participation from children, along with the presence of some parents who were keen to support and motivate their children to adopt an active lifestyle. The program also included awareness lectures, medical screenings, and biometric assessments such as blood pressure and glucose level checks, in cooperation with the Primary Health Care Corporation, along with nutritional guidance and advice to help children follow healthy weight management practices and maintain a balanced lifestyle.
The program is part of the federation’s efforts to strengthen community sports culture and provide opportunities for different age groups, especially children, to engage in physical activity in a safe and motivating environment.
Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, explained that this edition of “Your Weight is Right” is specifically designed for children to help them understand the importance of exercise as a foundation for a healthy life and strong body. He noted that it contributes to reducing obesity, maintaining an ideal weight, and preventing modern lifestyle diseases, while also encouraging children to reduce long hours spent on mobile phones and electronic games and replace them with beneficial physical activities that improve their daily health and energy.
He added that the program has seen wide participation and strong demand since its earlier editions, including among men and women, due to its comprehensive services that help participants understand their health status and receive medical and sports advice to guide them toward a healthier, more active lifestyle.
Al-Dosari reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to implementing the “Your Weight is Right” program as a key part of its community mission, aimed at promoting sports culture and encouraging continuous physical activity, with the ultimate goal of making sports a permanent lifestyle in society.
