On the International Day of University Sport, the University Sports Federation has announced its activity calendar for the 2026–2027 sports season, featuring 22 championships across 12 different sports, with competitions targeting male and female students at educational and higher education institutions across Qatar. The calendar is a part of the Federation’s efforts to strengthen the presence of sports within the educational and university community, expand participation, and provide more opportunities for male and female students to compete across a diverse range of individual and team sports.
The season’s competitions include padel, cricket, volleyball, table tennis, football, chess, cross-country, futsal, esports, swimming, basketball and shooting. The season’s activities will run from October 2026 through May 2027.
His Excellency Dr. Ibrahim bin Nasser Al Nuaimi, President of the Qatari University Sports Federation, said: “We seek to strengthen sports as an essential part of educational and university life and provide more opportunities for our male and female students to participate and compete.”
For his part, Rashid Saeed Odaiba, Secretary-General of the Federation, said: “Twenty-two championships across 12 sports reflect the diversity of the season and our commitment to expanding participation opportunities for male and female students at educational and higher education institutions across Qatar.”
The announcement of the calendar coincides with the International Day of University Sport, reaffirming the importance of sports in strengthening connections among students, building a more active educational and university community, and establishing sports as an integral part of the educational experience.
During the new season, the Federation will continue its cooperation with educational and higher education institutions and sports organizations across Qatar, contributing to the development of the university sports system and expanding participation.
