Today, Monday, the activities of the third session of the Shura Council Simulation, organized by the Ministry of Sports and Youth in cooperation with the Shura Council, were launched. The event was attended by His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, Her Excellency Dr. Hamda bint Hassan Al Sulaiti, Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, and several esteemed members of the council.
Forty-five young Qatari men and women participated in the session organized by the Youth Affairs Department. The session was divided into two periods. In the first period, the interim president delivered a speech, the oath was taken, and the president, vice president, committee chairpersons, and committee members of the Shura Council were elected. The second period was dedicated to discussions among the youth on issues related to Qatar’s national youth policy, including youth and education, full and effective youth participation, and youth and social issues. Recommendations were submitted to the responsible authorities at the end of the session, which concluded with the honoring of the participating youth by His Excellency the Minister and Her Excellency the Deputy Speaker of the Shura Council, in addition to honoring the program’s working team.
Mr. Fawaz Abdullah Al-Misifri, Director of the Youth Affairs Department, confirmed that the third session of the Shura Council Simulation saw significant development through the addition of many new aspects in organization and training content. He emphasized that such programs fulfill the vision of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the strategic objectives of the Youth Affairs Department, highlighting the importance of this event in opening channels for the ministry to communicate more with the youth, empower them, and enhance their capabilities in various fields.
For his part, Mr. Nasser Al-Jabri, Head of the Working Team, stated that the success of the third session of the Shura Council Simulation reflects the ministry’s openness to the youth, addressing their concerns, and working diligently to meet their demands and enhance their participation in youth activities through training and management. He noted the effective role played by the partnership between the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Shura Council, which facilitated many aspects of this session, appreciating the fruitful cooperation between the Shura Council and the ministry’s working team, which resulted in the success of this event.
It is worth noting that the event began on May 7, 2024, with interviews of registered youth and the selection of 45 young people from among 130 candidates who met the criteria set by the interview committee. The participating youth received a series of workshops to enhance their capabilities and improve their communication and negotiation skills over two weeks in May under the supervision of specialized trainers.
