A number of students participating in the first phase of the “Young Inventors” program affirmed that the program had succeeded in developing their innovative thinking skills and turning ideas into practical, implementable projects, noting that the training workshops enabled them to acquire teamwork, planning, and design skills, in addition to utilizing modern technologies and artificial intelligence to develop solutions to societal challenges.
They explained in statements to Al Raya that the Qatar Scientific Club had become their first destination during the summer vacation to hone their scientific skills and gain experience that would prepare them for the future, highlighting various projects in the fields of industrial safety, emergencies, artificial intelligence, and sustainability, reflecting Qatari youth’s ambition to contribute to the innovation and development process.
The participants affirmed that the program is not limited to teaching innovation skills, but also contributes to instilling a culture of scientific research and teamwork, and encourages youth to develop national solutions to future challenges, thereby enhancing their role in supporting the development process and knowledge-based economy in the State of Qatar.
The Qatar Scientific Club concluded the first phase of the “Young Inventors” program, which comes as part of the national initiative launched by the Ministry of Sports and Youth during Web Summit Qatar 2026, with the participation of 35 male and female students who presented innovative ideas to address societal challenges in the fields of safety, energy, artificial intelligence, and sustainability, in a step aimed at preparing a generation of innovators capable of turning ideas into practical projects that support the development process in the State of Qatar.
Eng. Aisha Al Jaber: The Program Prepares a Generation of Innovators and Translates Ideas into Projects
Engineer Aisha Al Jaber, Director of the “Young Inventors” Program, affirmed that the program represents a national platform for discovering young talents and developing their capabilities in the fields of innovation and invention, noting that it focuses on building scientific thinking and engineering design skills, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the State of Qatar in the fields of science, technology, and innovation.
She told Al Raya that the program consists of three main stages, beginning with the design thinking stage, followed by the engineering design stage, and concluding with the project implementation stage, which will begin at the start of next September, explaining that the participants spent three days in the first stage, during which they focused on identifying societal challenges, holding brainstorming sessions, and selecting the best ideas that they will work to develop during the upcoming stages.
She added that the second stage will include specialized workshops in engineering design for two-dimensional and three-dimensional models, before moving on to the implementation of prototypes, culminating in the selection of the best winning projects at the conclusion of the program.
Al Jaber praised the enthusiasm demonstrated by the participants, affirming that the ideas presented reflect an advanced level of awareness among youth of societal issues and their desire to provide innovative solutions that serve various vital sectors, stressing that investing in young minds represents a key pillar for building an economy based on knowledge and innovation.
Moza Al Kaabi: Smart Device for Dealing with Drones
Moza Al Kaabi, a Qatar University student, explained that her team is working on designing a smart device that relies on sound waves to deal with unmanned aerial vehicles (Drones), noting that the project is still at the stage of studying the design and required materials, and affirming that scientific programs provide youth with practical experience that contributes to enhancing their future opportunities in the labor market.
Sarah Al Otaibi: Discovering Fields That Align with Youth’s Ambitions
Sarah Al Otaibi, an 11th-grade student, said that her participation in the Qatar Scientific Club’s programs had helped her discover and develop her scientific abilities, affirming that following the summer programs organized by official entities and youth centers contributes to developing skills and discovering fields that align with youth’s ambitions.
Rayhana Ibrahim: Smart Box for Desalinating Seawater
Rayhana Ibrahim, a 10th-grade student, explained that her team is working to develop the “Hydro Safe” project, a smart emergency box for desalinating seawater that can be used by divers or during natural disasters, affirming that the program taught her how to turn ideas into real-world projects and how to evaluate the feasibility of ideas before implementing them.
Mohammed Al Yafei: Sensors for Early Detection of Gas Leaks
Mohammed Ali Al Yafei, a student at Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys, said that his team is working to develop a project aimed at reducing the risks of gas leaks in factories through a smart system that relies on sensors to detect hazardous gases early and issue alerts before accidents occur, expressing his hope of developing the project in the future to serve the industrial and energy sectors.
Shafi Al Qahtani: Developing a Device for Rapid Intervention in Fires
Shafi Mohammed Al Qahtani, a student at Lusail University, noted that his team proposes developing an artificial intelligence-powered device for rapid intervention in fires, which would contribute to reducing losses and decreasing the consumption of water used in firefighting operations, affirming that the project is aligned with the country’s directions toward utilizing artificial intelligence technologies across various sectors.
Yousef Al Maadeed: An Opportunity to Develop Innovative Thinking Skills
Yousef Al Maadeed, who aspires to study Mechanical Engineering, affirmed that the program provided him with an opportunity to develop his innovative thinking skills, noting that participating in scientific courses represents a genuine investment in the future and contributes to building a scientific personality capable of creativity.
Mansour Mohammed: Investing the Vacation in Developing Skills
Mansour Mohammed, a student at Al Wakrah Secondary School for Boys, explained that his participation comes as an extension of previous experiences in Qatar Scientific Club programs, affirming that investing the summer vacation in scientific programs contributes to developing skills and preparing for university life, and calling on students to take advantage of the opportunities provided by youth institutions in the country.
