The Oxygen Park in Education City hosted a new round of the “Sports for All” women’s running races, representing another link in the series organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, under the guidance of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and held in cooperation with Qatar Foundation. Many races were conducted with the aim of raising fitness levels and enhancing the participants’ abilities and energy. The races took place in wonderful weather conditions suitable for running. The competitions started at seven in the morning and continued until nine, lasting for two hours.
The race was held using a timing system for different age categories, through four time-based distances: 30 minutes, 15 minutes, 10 minutes, and an additional 5-minute distance for young girls aged 3 to 6 years. The race was distinguished by enjoyable sporting and recreational moments full of energy and challenge.
The race witnessed the participation of a large number of women and girls, with a total of 120 competitors of various ages taking part in the different distances. They contributed to creating a unique sporting and recreational experience in an atmosphere of privacy and safety, with mothers and daughters attending together. This created a motivating sports environment that respects women’s privacy, supports their abilities, develops their skills, and encourages them to practice sports in a way that helps raise fitness levels and improve health.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, stated that the women’s running race is a prominent stop within the series of women’s sports events and activities organized by the Federation. It provides a suitable sporting environment that encourages increased physical activity, meets women’s aspirations in sports participation, and enhances their involvement in community events. This is achieved through cooperation and coordination with various entities and institutions, by organizing the largest possible number of sports events aimed at achieving a healthy lifestyle through continuous physical activity, in a distinguished family atmosphere and under the supervision of specialized female trainers.
The Executive Director of Sports for All explained that the series of women’s running races is distinguished by the turnout, attendance, and participation, reflecting its positive impact in strengthening the culture of sports among women. These races are not limited to promoting physical activity but also provide women with a comprehensive platform to showcase their abilities and aspirations in participating in various sports activities, including running races.
The Qatar Sports for All Federation continuously works to make various sports and community activities available to women, to achieve active participation in these activities, stemming from a full awareness of the importance of continuously diversifying women’s sports events.
