Many gyms, fields, and swimming pools at sports clubs, youth centers, and public parks are currently buzzing with activity. This is due to the fourth round of the 2024 Summer Sports for All Program, which is held under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, in collaboration with several partners. Today, Tuesday, marks the continuation of the eighth and final week of the summer activities, which began on June 23rd and will conclude this Thursday, August 15th. The summer sports program was extended by two additional weeks in response to the wishes of parents whose children are participating in the program, aiming to provide more opportunities for participation and benefit from the diverse sports, recreational, and awareness activities offered by the program. The program has received significant interest from all age groups, both boys and girls, and is particularly focused on ensuring maximum community participation, especially among school students. The program is centered around four main themes: learning to swim, Muay Thai self-defense training, the “365 Days of Activity” program for men and women in public parks, and a fitness camp held at the Lusail Sports Hall.

The activities within the camp, designed for boys and girls aged 6 to 10, have been carefully planned to ensure maximum benefit from the four-hour daily sessions held from Sunday to Thursday. The activities include a mix of sports, awareness, cultural, and recreational sessions, such as speed and strength exercises, football matches, stretching, flexibility, and balance exercises to strengthen muscles, as well as group races and challenges.

Additionally, the swimming lessons, part of the program, have been ongoing for the past seven weeks at various locations according to the announced schedules. These swimming lessons are available for both boys and girls at the pools of Al-Arabi, Al-Khor, and Al-Wakrah clubs, with a notable participation from Al-Jumailiya Youth Center, which recently organized a special swimming championship in collaboration with the Sports for All Federation.

Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Head of Activities and Events at the Qatar Sports for All Federation, confirmed that the summer sports program has received an outstanding response from all segments of society. This is evident from the enthusiasm of parents to involve their children in these diverse activities. Parents requested an extension of the program, which was initially scheduled to conclude at the beginning of this month, reflecting their eagerness for their children to gain more beneficial and enjoyable sporting experiences. Mr. Al-Dosari highlighted that the summer sports program has been beneficial in all aspects, reinforcing the mission of Sports for All.
