In line with the main principle of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, which emphasizes the importance of sustaining sports activity and physical movement, the trails of Al Muntazah Park hosted the Sports for All Launch Race on Friday morning. The race marked the first sporting event organized by the Sports for All Federation in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth at the start of the new year, living up to its name as a true launch for community sports activities in 2026.
The race witnessed wide community participation, with competitors aged 17 and above racing over distances of 5 kmand 2.5 km, while youth aged 7 to 16 competed in a 2.5 km race. A special event was also held for children aged 3 to 6, covering a distance of 800 meters. The race was further distinguished by a special competitive segment featuring relay races in two categories: father and son and mother and daughter.
Amid a strong turnout of sports enthusiasts and running fans, the competitions reflected the familiar hallmark of Sports for All races—family participation. Al Muntazah Park welcomed a large number of runners, including those competing in the relay races, which reinforce the concept of family-based sport through complementary competitive roles between father and son, and mother and daughter. This style of competition is expected to play a key role in motivating families to practice sports collectively rather than individually.
Following the conclusion of the races, winners across various categories were crowned, and participants who completed the race distances were honored as a gesture of motivation and encouragement to take part in upcoming family-oriented races, which carry significant importance and excitement—particularly the relay events.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, affirmed that the high level of participation in the Launch Race supports the federation’s efforts to spread sports culture across different segments of society. He emphasized that the approach of expansion and growth in sports activities will continue in the coming period with the same strength and momentum. Al-Dosari noted that the Sports for All Federation is increasingly committed each day to expanding the reach of community sports and raising participation numbers, which plays a major role in accelerating progress toward the goal of making sport a way of life within the community.
