Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, the sixth edition of the Batabet Show will kick off today, Thursday, at 3:30 PM. The event, organized by the Qatar Motorcycle Club (Batabet) and chaired by Ibrahim Al-Hidos, will take place on Thursday and Friday at the southern part of the Cultural Village (Katara), with more than 190 participants from Qatar and abroad.
For the first time, new judges from Switzerland, as well as two from the USA, Japan, and Spain, will be participating due to their extensive experience in the field. This sixth edition features diverse activities, some of which are being held for the first time, with various booths set up for visitors.
An “Adventurers’ Corner” tent will showcase a group of young adventurers and motorcycle enthusiasts who have traveled across many countries, sharing their experiences and challenges faced during their journeys, including exploring both paved and rough roads. These adventurers have traveled over 150,000 kilometers on motorcycles, visiting about 80 countries.
Outstanding Qatari Participation
Among the notable participants is the famous Qatari adventurer Khaled Al-Jaber, who has explored numerous countries and gained vast experience in the field. Also participating are Qatari rider Hamid Al-Mansoori, Kuwaiti Ali Al-Birmai, who has traveled from London to Kuwait and is 60 years old, and Omani Wael Al-Yaqoubi.
Today, Thursday at 7:30 PM, there will be an hour-long interview session on the main stage of the exhibition. The event is open to the public, and attendees are encouraged to benefit from the participants’ experiences and advice, learn about the challenges faced during their global adventures, and gain valuable insights on trip planning and technical support for ensuring a safe and enjoyable riding experience.
190 Teams Participating
Ibrahim Al-Hidos, Director of the Batabet Motorcycle Club, expressed his immense happiness with the participation of over 190 participants in the sixth edition of the Batabet Show 2025. The high turnout exceeded expectations, reflecting the event’s growing reputation in the Middle East and Gulf countries. He also expressed gratitude that the Minister of Sports and Youth agreed to sponsor this edition, as the event is held under the ministry’s supervision.
He added: “For the first time, a motorcycle from Jordan will participate in the competition, and we will be welcoming riders from Italy, Algeria, Iraq, and Turkey. We will also have a motorcycle traveler and YouTuber from Poland, who will be accompanied by his wife.” He continued: “Motorcycle touring has become easier in the Gulf countries, with certain procedures and significant facilitation, especially for those with a motorcycle license. This is part of sports tourism, which contributes to the national economy due to the large number of visitors coming for the Qatar Round.”
Traffic Awareness
Al-Hidos also explained that there is strong cooperation with the Traffic Department, and traffic awareness campaigns will be conducted by the department. Additionally, the Qatar Motor Sport Academy, affiliated with the Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF), will participate in the exhibition.
Al-Hidos announced the prizes for the participants, stating: “There will be various competitions, with around 21 categories. Participants can compete according to their interests. There will be a cone challenge with four competitions, and we have allocated cash prizes for each category. The biggest prize is 50,000 Qatari riyals, followed by 20,000 Qatari riyals for second place. The remaining prizes will be distributed across all categories, with the first prize in each category being 5,000 Qatari riyals, second place 3,000 Qatari riyals, and third place 2,000 Qatari riyals. The competition is expected to be fierce and exciting, especially since it is taking place during the official holidays.”
