Under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the organizing committee of the Al Sailiya Ramadan Championship held a ceremony to announce the draw for the second edition of the Ramadan Football Championship. The championship will kick off on the 17th of this month, coinciding with the seventh day of Ramadan, and will continue until March 28th, coinciding with the 18th of Ramadan.

The ceremony was attended by Mr. Mohammed Ali Al Marri, Vice President of Al Sailiya Club, Mr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Nabit, Member of the Municipal Council, Mr. Mubarak Al Marri, Tournament Director and Head of the Youth Department at Al Sailiya Club, Mr. Mohammed Sulaan Al Marri, General Manager of Tabyan Media Company, the sponsor and organizer of the championship, and Mr. Mohammed Bukhait Al Marri, the tournament supervisor. Representatives of the participating teams in the second edition of the championship were also present. In addition, a selection of former Qatari football stars, Mr. Ahmed Lahdan Al Mahandi, and Mr. Hadi Al Marri, were also in attendance.

The organizing committee also allocated gifts and valuable prizes for the audience to encourage them to attend the matches held at Al Sailiya Club’s fields, providing moral support to the participating players in the championship.

The draw revealed the presence of 4 groups with the participation of 12 teams. The first group included: Labesir, Katara, and Barzan. As for the second group: Ibn Sina High School, Maither Youth, and Al Shaqab. While the third group included: Umm Salal Youth, Al Wajbah, and Abu Sidra. Finally, the fourth group consisted of: Al Sailiya, Al Ramaila, and Al Rahib. A total of 168 players from 12 teams will compete during the championship in 19 matches. Additionally, the championship matches will be broadcasted live on YouTube.

Mr. Mubarak Al Marri, Head of the Youth Department at Al Sailiya Club, expressed that this edition will be different and more professional due to the significant preparations and valuable prizes allocated by the organizing committee.

He stated, “We are pleased with the agreement with Tabyan Media Company, and we all hope that the championship will meet the required standards and will be showcased strongly with the participation of 12 teams.”

He continued, “I invite the audience to enjoy the matches alongside the activities that will be held on the sidelines of the championship, especially since there are many prizes allocated for the audience attending the championship.”

On his part, Mr. Mohammed Sulaan Al Marri, General Manager of Tabyan Media Company, confirmed that there are valuable prizes for the winners, with the first-place winner receiving 50,000 Qatari Riyals, the second-place winner receiving 30,000 Qatari Riyals, while the best team, top scorer, best player, and best goalkeeper will each receive a prize of 3,000 Qatari Riyals. Additionally, the best player of each match in all championship matches will be honored.

He said, “The second edition is organized and supervised by the Youth Department at Al Sailiya Club under the umbrella of the prestigious club, and organized specifically by Tabyan Media Company, continuing the efforts that began last season in the first edition. The championship is community-oriented, targeting the residents of the area, in support of the country’s direction towards community sports and in support of the message of the Ministry of Sports and Youth. We have received great praise from the community and participation exceeded 14 teams. However, the tournament system initially started with 8 teams and eventually accommodated 12 teams in group stages. There is also community participation for entrepreneurial projects, which is a good gesture from the organizing committee in support of these entrepreneurial initiatives, in addition to the presence of competitions, which are a tribute to the audience who honor the club with their presence and serve as a motivation for them. There will also be television coverage through the Nabrass network, which is a daily program, and this collaboration happened with sponsoring companies that helped in organizing this championship. Therefore, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to them for their great efforts.”

He added, “There will be daily activities for the audience between the matches, including competitions, quizzes, and informative content. As for the draw, it was strong, especially Group One, which gathered champions, so fun is guaranteed. I predict that one of the teams in Group One will win the title, but something else might happen, especially considering that the teams will include exceptional players due to player transfers.
