His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, honored the winners of the second edition of the research competition organized by the ministry on “The Role of Parents in Raising Children and Its Impact on Their Social and Emotional Development.” Around 50 participants took part in the competition, with 11 young individuals winning awards.

The competition is part of the ministry’s initiative to encourage scientific research among youth and to provide a specialized knowledge base on youth-related issues and studies. It aims to offer scientific research studies and content focused on the interests, issues, and challenges of contemporary youth in various fields, including political, economic, and social areas, in order to gain a deeper understanding of their perceptions of these issues amid the changes they face.

In this context, Mrs. Fatima Saad Al-Muhannadi secured first place in the first category (ages 15-19), followed by Mrs. Nouf Khamees Al-Marikhy in second place, and Mr. Zakaria Ahmed Al-Janahi in third.

In the second category (ages 20-39), Mr. Ahmed Ismail Al-Kubaisi took first place, with Mrs. Reem Rashid Al-Hajri in second, and Mrs. Fatima Saleh Al-Mari in third.

In the third category for graduate and doctoral students, the first prize was withheld. However, Mrs. Mariam Mubarak Hamdan Al-Arabid won second place, and Mrs. Nora Mohammed Ali Mohammed took third.

Mrs. Maha Issa Al-Rumaihi, Director of the Planning, Quality, and Innovation Department at the Ministry of Sports and Youth, stated that the second edition of the competition is part of a series of research competitions organized by the department within the strategic projects of the Ministry of Sports and Youth. These projects aim to raise youth awareness and broaden their understanding of issues relevant to their society.

She pointed out that the competition has sparked interest in scientific research among youth and saw good participation from young researchers in both its first and second editions, producing excellent research. The competition has become an important platform for youth to present their pioneering work.

Al-Rumaihi emphasized that the minister’s recognition of the winners is of great value, as it supports and motivates young people to continue their valuable contributions, which will help raise awareness of the importance of scientific research among youth in Qatar.

She also mentioned that the evaluation of the participants’ research was conducted in a transparent and professional manner, with a committee formed to assess the research based on specific, objective criteria, ultimately selecting the winning papers from 50 submissions.
