The Qatari Sports for All Federation, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and in collaboration with the Elderly Empowerment and Care Center (Ihsan), organized sports and recreational activities for elderly women, known as “Kabeerat Al-Qadr,” last Tuesday. This event saw participation from 61 members of the center and was held in conjunction with the International Day of Older Persons, celebrated worldwide on October 1 each year. The event is also part of Qatar Sustainability Week 2024.

The “Sports for All” initiative focuses on organizing specialized events aimed at raising community awareness about the rights and basic needs of the elderly. By utilizing global celebrations and occasions, the initiative promotes specialized sports activities and exercises that suit their abilities and capacities. These events serve as a platform to enhance the skills of older individuals, improve their health—both physical and psychological—and reintegrate them into community sports activities.

The event featured several sports activities tailored for elderly women, including muscle and nerve-strengthening exercises using resistance bands, as well as light-weight training. Additionally, simple competitions were organized among the center’s participants, suitable for their abilities. The event concluded with the distribution of gifts to encourage the participants to continue engaging in sports due to its numerous positive effects and benefits.
