The Old Doha Port hosted the Night Sports for All Race, organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in collaboration with the Old Doha Port, Ajour Sport, and Qatar Calendar. The race, which brought together families from all walks of life, took place the evening before last, Saturday, in a fun wintery, family-friendly atmosphere. The start of the race was vibrant and beautiful, held in a prime location along the Doha Corniche. This race, which began at 7:00 PM, was the first night race to be held on the Doha Corniche and is part of a series of unique races organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation.

 

Two Levels of Competition

 

The race took place along a specified route at the Old Doha Port, starting from the parking area on the eastern side of the port, passing through the shopping area, and continuing along the running track until reaching the site for unloading large ships at the old port. A total of 811 participants of all ages took part in the race. The race was divided into two levels, with different categories, including children as young as three years old and adults over the age of 40. These categories included open, masters, intermediate, youth, and children’s races, all on the same route. The first-level race was held over a distance of one kilometer for four categories, while the second-level race was held over a 5-kilometer distance. After the race, the top three winners in each category were awarded medals and prizes, and all participants who finished the race were recognized, encouraging them to continue engaging in sports.

 

Women’s Races

 

In the women’s race, which was 1 km in distance, Annabella Tonofi won first place in the intermediate category. In the beginners’ category for ages 7-9, Amna Al-Muhannadi came in first, while Sirine Abu Daki took first place in the youth category. Edson Leon topped the girls’ category for ages 3-6, also over a 1 km distance. In the 5 km race for women over 40 years old, Nadini Alenier won first place, while Nicolett Hodorogia led the masters’ category for ages 30-39. Hessa Al Thani claimed first place in the open category.

 

Men’s Races

 

The men’s races featured wide participation and intense competition. John Isaac won the intermediate category in the 1 km race, while Shadi Abu Daki took first place in the youth category. Ali Ashraf led the beginners’ category, and Siyar Al-Tamimi topped the 3-6 years old boys’ category. The 5 km race was filled with challenging and thrilling moments. Guillaume Alenier won the race for men over 40 years old, while Othman Bourhars led the masters’ category for ages 30-39. Berlinam Alenier topped the open category for the same distance.

 

A Special Experience

 

Abdullah Al-Dosari, the Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, described the night race as a successful new experience at a remarkable location. He emphasized the high level of participation from various nationalities and ages. He expressed hope that the event was beneficial for participants and promised more exciting events in the future in collaboration with the Old Doha Port. Al-Dosari highlighted the fantastic family atmosphere, where all family members participated in the competition, sports, and recreational activities surrounding the race. He also noted that the race added a unique contribution to the series of races organized by the Federation as part of the Sports for All activities this year. Through this race, in cooperation with all partners, the Federation aims to attract the largest possible number of participants to engage in various sports activities. He also emphasized that it was a great opportunity to take advantage of Qatar’s rich sporting and tourist locations, praising the efforts of the partners in creating the ideal environment for practicing sports and ensuring the success of all the Federation’s events.
