His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, crowned the winners of the horse races for the National Day Award and the Founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani Award, which were held this evening at Al Rayyan Grass Track. The event featured nine races with total prize money amounting to QAR 2 million.

In the ninth race, a Class 3 event for Thoroughbred horses aged four years and above over a distance of 2,350 meters, contested for the Founder’s Award, the horse “Arman,” owned by Wathnan Racing and ridden by jockey James Doyle under the supervision of trainer Alban de Mieulle, claimed the title after finishing first.

In the eighth race, a Class 2 event for Purebred Arabian horses over a distance of 2,000 meters for the National Day Award, the mare “RB Mari Layla,” owned by Wathnan Racing and ridden by jockey James Doyle under the supervision of trainer Alban de Mieulle, secured first place to win the title.

The races were marked by strength and speed in most heats, particularly the National Day and Founder’s Award races, as well as the three cup races.

In the seventh race, a Class 3 event for Thoroughbred horses aged four years and above over 2,350 meters for the Al Safliya Cup, the horse “Simca Mille,” owned by Wathnan Racing and ridden by jockey James Doyle, finished first. This victory allowed Wathnan Racing to retain the cup for the third consecutive year, after winning it with “Haunted Dream”in the previous two years, and gave trainer Alban de Mieulle his second consecutive win in the event.

In the sixth open race for Thoroughbred horses aged three years and above over 2,000 meters, the filly “Doha Boothaila”won the Haloul Island Cup after finishing first, achieving her second consecutive victory and retaining the same title for the second year in a row for the owner, trainer Alban de Mieulle, and jockey Sofiane Saadi, following last year’s win with “Equinox.”

In the fifth race for Thoroughbred horses aged three years and above over 1,600 meters, the horse “Thor’s Hammer”claimed the Labseer Cup after finishing first under the supervision of trainer Jassim Al Ghazali and ridden by jockey Alberto Sanna, marking his second win in the event.

In the fourth race, designated for Thoroughbred horses aged three years and above over 1,200 meters for the Al Saqr Cup, the horse “Taxiwala,” owned by engineer Osama Omar Ismail Al Dafa, finished first under jockey Lucas Delozier, retaining the title for the second consecutive year and for the third time in his career.

In addition to the two main award races and the cup races, three other races were held. In the first race for novice Purebred Arabian horses aged 3–7 years over 1,600 meters, the horse “Teftan,” owned by Ahmed Hassan Al Malki Al Jehni, won first place under jockey Pierre-Charles Boudot and trainer Hamad Al Jehni.

In the second race for Purebred Arabian horses, Handicap (75–95), aged four years and above over 1,600 meters, the horse “Labwa de Carriere,” owned by Al Mazroua Stud, finished first under jockey Fayos Martin Borja and trainer Mohammed Hussein Afrouz.

In the third race for Purebred Arabian horses, a conditional race for horses aged three years and above over 1,200 meters, the horse “Taimour Al Shahania,” owned by Al Bidda Racing, claimed first place after leading the race from start to finish, ridden by jockey Alberto Sanna and trained by Ibrahim Khalid Al Ahmed.
