His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, accompanied by Qatar national team player Assim Madibo, visited Canadian national team player Ismaël Koné in Vancouver to check on his health condition. They were welcomed by the President of the Canadian Soccer Association.

According to the Qatar Football Association’s account on the “X” platform, the visit reflects the spirit of sportsmanship and the strong relations that exist both on and off the field. They also extended their sincere wishes to the player for a speedy recovery and a quick return to the pitch.

Madibo was sent off in the 51st minute during the match between Al Annabi (Qatar national team) and Canada in the second round of Group B matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, following a challenge involving Ismaël Koné, who plays professionally for Italian club Sassuolo. Koné left the field injured with a leg fracture.
