His Excellency Mr Salah bin Ghanim Al-Ali, Minister of Sports and Youth, honored the winners of the research competition launched by the Ministry in coordination with the National Committee for Combating Terrorism and Violent Extremism, in which ten of the papers prepared by young people in this field won.

The competition aims to raise youth awareness of the concepts and factors that lead to the phenomenon of extremism and learn about national and international efforts in this aspect, in addition to expanding awareness and initiative among young people to propose solutions and recommendations to confront this phenomenon globally. During a ceremony organized by the Ministry on this occasion, the top ten winners in the competition were honored. In addition to distributing certificates of appreciation to 60 young men and women who applied for the competition, they ranged between 15 and 39 years old, in appreciation of the efforts made by the youth in preparing the submitted research.

A committee composed of specialists from the Ministry worked to evaluate the submitted research according to specific, objective standards. The committee concluded by identifying the top ten research papers out of the total number of research submitted for the competition.

It is notable that this competition comes within the framework of the executive plan prepared by the Ministry under the slogan “God, make us safe in our homelands” to achieve the goals of the national strategy to combat terrorism and violent extremism. The Ministry’s plan includes many youth and sports programs.

The results of the competition were as follows:

Muneera Mohammed Shaher AlOtaibi won first place, second place went to Hamad Mohammed Waheed Hussein, third place went to Reema Hamad Jassim Al Hamar, and in fourth place was Habiba Tariq Lutfi Mohammed. Fifth place was won by Reem Rashid Mubarak Al Hajri, and Wadha Mohammed Rashid Saleh came in the sixth place. Seventh place was Maryam Hamad Jaber Al-Braidi, in eighth place was Salman Mohammed Abdulrahman Al-Mudahka, in ninth place was Nawal Hadi Al-Marri, the tenth place was taken by Ali Saleh.
