The International Pylon Racing Federation officially approved the results of the second edition of the 2024 Qatar International Pylon Racing Championship, organized by the Qatar Wireless Sports Center, a center affiliated with the Ministry of Sports and Youth. The event took place at the Qatar Wireless Sports Center airport in the Semsema area, with 50 competitors from 15 countries.

In the F3T category, Qatari racer Fahad Mubarak Al-Hamidi took first place, followed by Australian Andre Woll in second and American Richard Verano in third. In the F3R category, South African young racer Van Der Giandri claimed first place, with his fellow countrymen Patrick Donovan and Konoro Donovan securing second and third, respectively.

In the F3E category, Dutch racer Joris Krivisvor secured the top spot, followed by Czech racer Tomas Andrick in second, and Dutch racer Pierre Dodema in third. In the F3D category, Belgian Bram Lintjens, ranked number one in the world, topped the overall standings, while Czech racer Jerry Klein came in second, and Dutch racer Van Der Robert took third place.

The center presented a special cup for the championship, which was fully designed and manufactured at the Qatar Wireless Sports Center’s workshop and decorated with Arabic letters.

His Excellency Sheikh Mohamed bin Fahad Al Thani, Director of the Qatar Wireless Sports Center, confirmed that the Qatar race has been added to the annual calendar of the International Pylon Racing Championship as the final stage in the annual qualifiers. He noted that the center plans to host many more tournaments in the future. He also expressed gratitude to the participating Arab delegations from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, and the UAE for their support of the event. In his closing remarks, he praised the support provided by the Ministry of Sports and Youth to enhance Qatar’s position in wireless sports.

The second edition of the Qatar International Pylon Racing Championship began last Thursday and continued for three days. The pylon airplane race is known for being the fastest among similar radio-controlled aircraft, with racers competing in four different categories. The first edition of the race took place last year, where Qatari racer Abdullah Al-Hamidi won first place globally in the F3R category, and Fahad Al-Hamidi secured second place globally in the F3T category, just two points behind the first place in the overall standings of the annual races.
