Large numbers of male and female runners of various ages and nationalities flocked to Al Khor to leave their mark on the final scene of the 2025 Desert Trail Running Series, organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth. They took part in the Al Khor round on Saturday afternoon, through the fifth challenge of the series, which was distinguished by the strong presence of different segments of society, including many participants who competed in all five races of the series. In addition to the Al Khor challenge, the series included four races: Al Zubarah, Fuwairit, Sealine, and Al Wakrah. Thus, the final round completed the Desert Trail Running Series, which covers all geographical regions of Qatar.

The conclusion of the race witnessed the crowning of champions across various categories and distances: 10 km, 5 km, and 3 km, in addition to a special children’s race over a distance of 800 meters for ages 3 to 6. This year’s finale was marked by special recognition for runners who participated in all five challenges of the Desert Trail Series, which kicked off on January 31, 2025, with the Fuwairit Challenge. Following the competitions, Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, in the presence of Abdulaziz Al-Abdullah, Director of “Trails” for Sports Events, crowned the winners of the Al Khor Challenge and honored participants who took part in all five rounds. This gesture aimed to motivate and encourage consistent participation in the races.

This round marked a new addition to the series in its fifth year with the introduction of the Al Khor Challenge. It also saw an increase in the number of participants, thanks to strong organization and fruitful cooperation with Trails for Sports Events. The races have become a sporting gathering for all family members and a broad platform for community sports.

Abdullah Al-Dosari praised the outstanding participation in the Al Khor Challenge, the high level of competition, and the rising numbers recorded in the final round and across the five-race series this year. He noted that the series represents a vital extension of ongoing efforts to spread sports culture and raise awareness of the importance of physical activity. He explained that the five races are held in natural desert locations, offering participants the opportunity to enjoy nature and explore many landmarks across Qatar, creating a unique sporting experience in distinctive areas such as Fuwairit, Al Zubarah, Sealine, Al Wakrah, and Al Khor. The latter represented a genuine addition this year, helping reach a new area through the Purple Island (Bin Ghanem Island), a remarkable tourist destination in Qatar known for its natural beauty and rich history, and contributing to the expansion of sports participation across the country.

For his part, Abdulaziz Al-Abdullah praised the fruitful partnership and cooperation with the Qatar Sports for All Federation throughout the five challenges of 2025. The series began with the Fuwairit race in northeastern Qatar, followed by the second challenge in the south at Sealine. The third stop took place at Al Zubarah Fort in the northwest, while the fourth challenge was held in Al Wakrah, before the series concluded in the north at Al Khor. This, he noted, gives the series special significance by covering Qatar’s diverse geographical regions.
