Under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth and in collaboration with the Qatar Runners team, the Qatar Sports For All Federation organized a ceremony to honor the champions of the current edition of the Qatar Ultramarathon “East to West” long-distance race, spanning 90 km.

The event was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Sports and Youth on Saturday evening, in the presence of Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, the Executive Director of the Federation. During the celebration, the federation honored success partners and awarded the winners of the Qatar Ultramarathon, which started at the Doha Corniche, beginning in front of the Sheraton Hotel, and ended at Dukhan Beach on the previous Friday. The event witnessed the participation of 1,500 runners from about 88 countries, with total prizes amounting to 78,000 Qatari riyals distributed across individual and team categories.

For the first time, the race saw significant female participation, comprising 44% of the total participants, while male participants made up 56%. Among the 220 teams competing, all managed to complete the full 90 km distance, while 99 out of 150 individual runners also completed the full course. The award ceremony was a lively celebration attended by families and friends of the winners.

During the ceremony, awards were distributed across the competition categories:

  • Individual Men (Over 40):
    • 1st place: Ahmed Sabbah
    • 2nd place: Evgeny Gelfa
    • 3rd place: Nasreddine Mansour
  • Individual Women (Over 40):
    • 1st place: Angelina Mano
    • 2nd place: Riza Dela Rosa
    • 3rd place: Trudy Russell
  • Men’s Team Competition:
    • 1st place: Perfect Up Team 2
    • 2nd place: Lekhwiya Team
    • 3rd place: Perfect Up Team 1
  • Women’s Team Competition:
    • 1st place: The Qatari “Catch” team, composed of six runners, secured first place, showcasing their exceptional skill, strength, and teamwork by completing the entire race distance.
    • 2nd place: Wonder Team
    • 3rd place: New Balance Team

Mr. Al-Dosari highlighted that the race is an international event bringing together top runners from both local and global levels, spanning Doha from east to west. He praised the collective efforts of the organizers and participants, which ensured the race’s success in terms of organization, participation, and competition. Al-Dosari extended his gratitude to all entities that contributed to the event, particularly the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Municipality.

He expressed hope that this edition met the expectations of all participants and promised an even larger and better event in 2025. Additionally, he emphasized that under the guidance of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, and aligned with the ministry’s strategy in support of Qatar’s Vision 2030, the Federation is committed to organizing a broader range of events, marathons, and championships to engage more participants and promote a culture of sports and physical activity.
