Under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Qatar Federation for Sport for All signed a cooperation agreement with “Trails Sports Events” company to organize the 6th edition of the Dheeb Desert Ultra Marathon 2025, recognized by the International Trail Runners Association. The event will be held on November 21st and 22nd and will include running and mountain biking races.
During a press conference held on Tuesday at Lusail Sports Hall, it was announced that the age categories would be expanded to include participants from 3 to 14 years old, giving them the opportunity to participate in the cycling competition for the first time. Special classification categories will be launched for them, similar to the “Alpha Dheeb” and “Beta Dheeb” categories designated for adult competitors in the main race. Additionally, seniors aged 60 and above will be allowed to participate, aiming to open the race to all age groups in the community.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Federation for Sport for All, expressed his happiness with the continued partnership and cooperation with Trails Sports Events for the sixth consecutive year to organize the Dheeb Desert race, continuing the success that began with the launch of the first running race in Qatar’s desert areas. The idea originated from a group of Qatari youth, with the Federation playing a major supportive role in organizing sports events that interest and meet the aspirations of young people, whether in running groups or cycling.
Mr. Abdulaziz Al-Abdullah, Executive Director of Trails Sports Events, thanked the Ministry of Sports and Youth and the Qatar Federation for Sport for All during the press conference for their continuous cooperation since 2018 and for their ongoing support in organizing these distinguished and successful editions of the desert races.
