The third edition of the “Ekbes” 2025 Ramadan Beach Volleyball Championship kicks off today, with its matches taking place at the Old Doha Port from March 6th to 14th. The championship will feature 12 teams competing over the course of 9 days in a unique Ramadan sports atmosphere.

The draw, overseen by Ahmed Al-Shibani, the head of the championship’s refereeing committee, resulted in the teams being divided into four groups. Group 1 includes the teams Viktuna, Azghwa, and Mangosteen; Group 2 features the teams Al-Ameed, Al-Rayyan, and Al-Adid; Group 3 includes Al-Tahaddi, Al-Wakra, and Al-Murqab; and Group 4 comprises the teams City of Khalifa, Police College, and Marikh.

The competition begins today with three matches: Viktuna will face Azghwa in the first match at 8:30 PM, followed by Al-Ameed versus Al-Rayyan at 9:30 PM, and finally, Al-Tahaddi will play Al-Wakra at 10:30 PM.

In statements, Faisal Khalid Al-Otaibi, the head of the organizing committee, confirmed that all preparations and arrangements for the launch of the tournament have been completed. He also expressed gratitude to the Old Doha Port for hosting this edition and praised the strong support from all the sponsors. Al-Otaibi highlighted the significant development of the tournament this year, pointing out the success of the previous two editions held at Aspire Zone, both technically and organizationally, in addition to the large public turnout.

As for the tournament format, it will follow a round-robin group system, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the quarterfinals.
