Under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Youth Committee of the Arab Sports Club organized a celebration for International Youth Day. The event featured an awareness camp under the theme “Oh My Nation, Here I Am” to mark the occasion. More than 35 young members of the club’s 2024 summer program participated in the camp, which included several important workshops designed to inspire young people to understand their role in society. These workshops also contributed to developing their skills and encouraging them to be creative and excel in a rapidly advancing world. The event provided them with the opportunity to engage in safe youth activities, aligning with the United Nations’ global theme for International Youth Day 2024, “Empowering Youth for a Sustainable Future,” which aims to highlight the role of youth in driving sustainable development and promoting environmental stewardship.

Mr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Amri, Head of the Youth Committee at the Arab Sports Club and the camp’s general leader, explained that the activities included many distinctive and specialized youth programs, workshops, and practical training sessions. One of the most notable was a lecture titled “Don’t Burn Yourself” in collaboration with the Primary Health Care Corporation. The lecturer discussed the problem of smoking, its harmful effects on individuals and society, its negative impact on national economies, and the burden it places on healthcare services worldwide due to the diseases caused by this deadly habit.

He added that the “Community Leader Preparation” workshop was well-received by participants for its benefits in developing the talents of young people and preparing them to face future challenges and contribute to progress and development. The workshop focused on preparing insightful leaders and training them in practical leadership based on sound principles, transforming them from managers into influential and inspiring leaders who can motivate individuals to achieve desired results and guide them in the right direction.

Al-Amri also praised the collaboration with Eid Charity Foundation, which presented a value-based program to the participants. The program included various educational values that strengthen a young person’s character, both religiously and worldly, to face life’s challenges and leave a mark in their country, society, and nation. This was achieved through various segments presented by educators and professors from the foundation. He commended this collaboration for its positive impact on the participants in the club’s summer activities.

The head of the club’s Youth Committee pointed out that the camp activities began with diverse training sessions, group distributions, and leadership practice, following the division of participants into competitively named groups. The sports program, educational workshops, training sessions, and the camp’s educational programs followed. The camp also included various recreational programs, sports competitions, swimming activities, and different types of electronic games to encourage teamwork, self-reliance, and foster camaraderie and communication among participants.

Al-Amri added that the camp offered exciting segments that aimed to achieve the Youth Committees’ main objective in clubs by instilling leadership qualities in young people and encouraging them to engage in youth programs, especially in clubs and youth centers, within a safe and reassuring environment. This environment helps refine their talents and provides opportunities for these specific groups, training them to lead such programs in the future. It also opens new horizons in these fields, which the state encourages its youth to take the initiative. The continuous and diligent work aims to elevate future leaders, ensuring that young people are educated and aware of their rights and responsibilities to contribute to the nation’s progress and the development of their skills, making them partners in this progress and advancement.
