Strong Interest in Muay Thai Training as Part of the “Sports for All” Summer Activities

The self-defense training program through Muay Thai is a key component of the “Sports for All Summer 2025” organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in cooperation with more than 27 governmental and institutional partners. The program kicks off next Sunday and will run for six weeks until August 7, featuring a diverse range of sports and recreational activities aimed at engaging all community groups and promoting a culture of physical activity during the summer break for all age categories.

The self-defense program targets boys aged 7 to 14 and will run for six weeks across clubs and youth centers, Sunday to Thursday each week, teaching participants the art of self-defense under the supervision of specialized coaches. The program offers intensive training sessions, contributing to the physical and mental development of the boys, while raising community awareness of the importance of practicing modern martial arts like Muay Thai, which play a vital role in building character, boosting self-confidence, and enhancing motor skills.

Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, stated that the Muay Thai program is a continuation of the successful training series the federation has been organizing over the past years, which have witnessed wide participation across age groups and helped establish Muay Thai’s position among other combat and defensive sports practiced in Qatar. He noted that the summer activities program offers many events and activities, providing families with an ideal opportunity to productively spend children’s leisure time through engaging sports, recreational, and educational programs.

Muay Thai training sessions will start at Al Wakrah Sports Club on July 3, lasting five weeks, held every Thursday from 3 to 4 pm. Sessions at Barzan Youth Center run from July 6 to August 3 every Sunday from 4 to 6 pm. Smissa Youth Center will host trainings starting July 9, every Wednesday from 5 to 7 pm for five weeks until August 6. Al Dhakhira Youth Center sessions will be held from July 7 to August 4, while North Club dedicates Tuesdays for training from July 1 to August 5, 5 to 7 pm.

Muay Thai training programs continue to attract growing participation as boys develop new skills that help build their bodies and abilities healthily while spending their summer break engaging in productive sports activities.
