Katara Beach is witnessing new rounds of the “Sailing and Kayaking Sports Education Program”, organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in cooperation with the Doha Marine Sports Club, as part of the activities of the Sports for All Summer Program 2026.

The first session of the program was held recently for boys aged 10 to 14 years, which is the designated age group for the training program. The program will continue for four weeks, through training sessions held every Monday and Wednesday. Participants receive theoretical and practical training to learn the fundamentals of sailing and kayaking, as well as rowing and navigation skills, according to the highest maritime safety standards under the supervision of certified coaches.

Mr. Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, said that the sailing and kayaking education program is one of the specialized initiatives that the federation is keen to include among its summer activities, as it provides youth with an excellent opportunity to acquire basic maritime sports skills and learn the principles of safety, sailing, and rowing through practical and theoretical training in a safe environment supervised by certified coaches.

He highlighted the growing interest and participation in the program from those wishing to learn marine sports, noting that this enthusiasm reflects the increasing popularity of these activities and supports the federation’s efforts to promote them among this age group.

Al Dosari confirmed that the federation aims through the program to enable participants to experience marine sports in a safe manner, helping develop their physical abilities, enhance their self-confidence, and encourage them to continue practicing maritime sports.

He added that the training program does not only focus on teaching rowing and sailing skills, but also emphasizes maritime safety principles, introducing participants to the components of sailing boats and kayaks, methods of maintaining balance, proper steering using the paddle, as well as warm-up exercises and physical preparation specific to this type of sport.

The Sailing and Kayaking Education Program is part of the Sports for All Summer Program 2026, as one of the distinguished activities aimed at diversifying the sports programs offered during the summer vacation.

The summer program includes more than 90 sports and community events that combine sports, entertainment, and awareness activities. These are held at sports clubs’ facilities, halls, swimming pools, youth centers, and public parks, in cooperation with various ministries, institutions, authorities, and schools.

The program aims to promote healthy lifestyles and encourage community members, especially children, youth, and young people, to engage in physical activity through programs that combine sports, entertainment, and education. It also seeks to strengthen values of competition and sportsmanship.

The diverse activities include marine sports, swimming, beach volleyball, martial arts, the children’s summer camp, and women’s championships. The activities are designed to suit different age groups and provide everyone with opportunities to practice sports during the summer vacation while making the best use of their free time.
