Doha:

Al Sadd Sports Club courts hosted the closing matches of the “Sports for All” Summer Padbol Championship, organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, in cooperation with “Variety Sport”, amid wide participation and a highly competitive atmosphere. The first-place winners were crowned with gold medals on Thursday evening. Salem Al Marri and Naseeb Al Abdullah claimed first place in the first division, while Saud Younis and Hamed Al Ahbabi finished second in the same division. In the second division, Jabr Al Zarraa and Mohammed Al Sharshani secured first place, while Ali Faisal and Mohammed Barhouma finished second. The championship’s final day featured intense competition and exciting challenges across the various youth categories.

The tournament was held over the past two weeks, with its opening stages taking place on the Aspire training courts. From the group stage through the decisive knockout rounds, the competition was fiercely contested, with the intensity increasing progressively and several players delivering strong technical performances.

Mr. Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, expressed his satisfaction with the success of the Summer Padbol Championship, praising the high technical standard, attendance, and participation. He said: “The matches were marked by intensity, competitiveness, and excitement, reflecting the participants’ improving standard. The strong turnout from young players also demonstrates the growing popularity of padbol in Qatar and confirms the increasing interest in this sport. The championship provided an excellent opportunity for competition, match experience, and skill development.”

Al Dosari explained that staging the championship reflects the Qatar Sports for All Federation’s commitment to diversifying its summer programs and tournaments in order to provide a wide range of sporting options for all segments of society, particularly youth. He noted that the “Sports for All Summer 2026” program includes more than 90 championships, programs, and sports and community activities held across various sports venues and facilities, enabling everyone to participate in sports and activities that suit their interests. He added: “The Padbol Championship is an extension of the Federation’s diverse summer sports calendar, through which it seeks to reach the widest possible segment of the community by providing opportunities and encouraging participation in sports.”
