Al Bidda Park will host, on its green lawns, a new edition of the Doha Run, organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation with partnership of the Ministry of Sports and Youth. The race will take place next Friday and is open to the participation of men and women from various age groups. The third edition of the race is being held in cooperation with Media One and is expected to attract wide participation from across the spectrum of the community sports scene, which continues to enrich the events with its strong presence at the many running races organized by the Sports for All Federation.
The race includes three distances. The first is designated for adults aged 17 and above and includes distances of 10 km, 5 km, and 2.5 km. The second distance is 2.5 km and is dedicated to the youth category from 7 to 16 years old. The third and final category is for children aged 3 to 6 years, over a distance of 800 meters. The children’s race has become a fixed feature in the events organized by the Sports for All Federation, emphasizing the importance of involving everyone in community sports activities, enhancing the family-friendly character of the events, and integrating young children early into an organized and sustainable sports system.
All participants who complete their race distances will receive commemorative medals in appreciation of their efforts and as encouragement to take part in future races and sporting events. Those finishing in the top three positions across all distances will be crowned at the Doha Run, which is considered the penultimate race of the current year. The season will conclude with the Al Khor Challenge, newly introduced this year as the fifth and final round of the Qatar Trails race series, which includes the Sealine, Al Wakrah, Al Zubarah, and Fuwayrit challenges.
The Doha Run represents a new link in the series of races organized by the Federation as part of its annual calendar, rich with sporting activities and events, in cooperation with various entities. In this context, Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Federation, affirmed that they are moving forward in creating more partnerships at different levels to inject renewed momentum into community sports in Qatar. He added that the Federation is gaining new ground daily thanks to the expansion of its sports umbrella, which now includes a wide segment of society. This motivates them to further strengthen partnerships and diversify activities and races, ensuring broader participation across all age groups, achieving the goals of community sports, and enhancing quality-of-life standards for all members of society.
