As part of its efforts to promote a culture of community sports and enhance children’s participation in physical and sporting activities, the Qatar Sports for All Federation, an affiliate of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, is organizing a new round of the Muay Thai Training Program 2026 at sports clubs and youth centers. The program aims to teach self-defense skills, with two training sessions held weekly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and a vision focused on developing young people’s abilities and promoting healthy lifestyles within the community.
A new phase of the training program kicks off this evening, Tuesday, at Al Sailiya Sports Club, as part of a series of field-based rounds held at Sumaysimah and Al Thakhira Youth Center, and Al Sailiya Sports Club. Training sessions are conducted under the supervision of a group of specialized coaches in modern combat sports, starting at 5:30 p.m. and continuing for two hours. The sessions include specialized training to acquire self-defense skills, enhance physical and mental fitness, and instill principles of discipline and self-confidence.
The Muay Thai 2026 program targets children aged 7 to 14 years, within a vision aimed at investing the energy of this age group in sporting activities that contribute to character building. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, affirmed that the current round of the program at sports clubs and youth centers represents an extension of the successes achieved in previous editions. He described the increasing turnout for Muay Thai training and the positive engagement of families as clear indicators of the initiative’s success in achieving its educational and sporting objectives.
Al-Dosari added that the Muay Thai program offers a comprehensive sports experience, providing participants with the opportunity to learn basic combat skills, improve physical fitness, enhance self-capabilities, and develop discipline. These elements align with the federation’s vision of delivering high-quality sports programs for young people in a modern and educational manner, as part of its ongoing commitment to spreading sports culture among various segments of society.
Combat sports programs—foremost among them Muay Thai—are considered a successful model for community sports initiatives that promote individual health and reinforce the concept of sport as a way of life. Learning Muay Thai continues to attract strong interest from children across different age groups, as it equips them with skills that support personal development, teaches the fundamentals of self-defense, and encourages regular physical activity.
Accordingly, the Qatar Sports for All Federation places Muay Thai among its key focus areas on an ongoing basis, based on its belief that this type of sport contributes significantly to building the character of children and youth. With the continuation of training programs and field rounds, Muay Thai in Qatar has witnessed clear progress, reflected in rising participation numbers within the targeted age group.
