The Qatar Sports for All Federation has expanded its Muay Thai training program through weekly training sessions held at multiple locations. Al Sadd Sports Club hosted a new round of the program, which is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth as part of ongoing efforts to promote a culture of sports, enhance community participation in physical activities, and encourage children and youth to develop self-defense skills.
The training session, held on Monday afternoon, targeted males under the age of 17 through a comprehensive training program conducted twice a week in cooperation with the youth department at Al Sadd Sports Club. The program focuses on teaching self-defense techniques, improving physical and mental fitness levels, and strengthening educational values related to discipline, self-confidence, and character development.
The comprehensive Muay Thai training program is held twice weekly on Sundays and Wednesdays as part of a series of sessions hosted at various sports clubs, youth centers, educational institutions, community organizations, and entities supporting people with disabilities, reflecting the inclusive community nature of the initiative.
The Autism Families Platform also hosted a one-hour training session from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., which saw positive interaction from participants and parents. The session aimed to develop basic abilities and teach self-defense skills.
The current round of Muay Thai training builds on the success achieved by previous editions of the program. Mr. Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, stated that the growing participation and positive response from families highlight the importance of the initiative and its role in providing a suitable sporting and educational environment for children and youth.
He noted that these results have encouraged the federation to further expand the program during the upcoming period as part of the Sports for All Summer Program 2026, which includes more than 90 sports championships and events. The program will feature a significant expansion of Muay Thai activities, with 17 training programs distributed across Al Sadd, Al Wakrah, Al Shamal, Al Ahli, Qatar, Al Sailiya, Al Rayyan, and Al Khor sports clubs, as well as youth centers in Simaisma, Barzan, Al Thakhira, and Al Jumailiya.
The initiative also includes participation from the Autism Families Platform, Yadan Bi Yad Center, and Eid Cultural Center.
Al Dosari emphasized that these intensive programs aim to provide a complete sporting experience that combines learning essential self-defense skills, improving fitness levels, supporting individual abilities, building confidence among children and youth, and expanding sports participation across different communities and social groups.
The expanded summer edition of the Muay Thai training program is expected to witness participation from 16 entities, including sports clubs, youth centers, and other community institutions, as part of the Sports for All Summer Program 2026. Additional Muay Thai training sessions will also be provided through the Sports for All Camp at Lusail Sports Hall, which will launch at the end of the current month.
