The corridors of Doha Festival City hosted the third round of the “Mall Walking and Running Challenge”, organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth.

The shopping center was transformed into a hub of sporting activity, with more than 160 participants including men, women, children, and senior citizens taking part in walking and running activities. The event reflected the spirit of community engagement and the growing enthusiasm for physical activity, highlighting the success of the initiative in providing a safe and healthy environment for exercise inside air-conditioned indoor facilities, in line with the requirements of the summer season and supporting the promotion of sports as a daily lifestyle.

The event began at 8:00 a.m. and continued for two hours along the mall’s indoor pathways. Participants and mall visitors actively engaged with the initiative, with several visitors joining the “Mall Walking and Running Challenge,” which forms part of the Qatar Sports for All Federation’s summer programs aimed at promoting community health.

The challenge is held every Friday throughout the summer season and aims to provide opportunities for all members of society to practice walking in a safe and air-conditioned environment suitable for all ages, helping maintain fitness levels despite high outdoor temperatures. Walking inside shopping malls has become a practical and ideal option for exercising during the summer.

Mr. Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, praised the success of the third round, highlighting the increasing response from various segments of society, including registered participants and mall visitors, several of whom joined the activity spontaneously.

He noted that the round was distinguished by its family-friendly atmosphere and diverse participation from children and senior citizens, reflecting the initiative’s ability to reach different age groups and encourage everyone to engage in physical activity.

Al Dosari explained that selecting malls as venues for the challenge provides an ideal environment that encourages people to practice walking during the summer, especially given the high temperatures outdoors. He added that the third round confirmed the success of the concept as an effective option for maintaining fitness and continuing physical activity throughout the year.

The challenge rounds will continue weekly until the end of the summer season. Participation remains open to all members of society to benefit from the diverse summer program organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, which will begin next Monday and includes more than 90 championships and activities.

The program aims to promote a culture of community sports, support the federation’s efforts to make physical activity a daily practice and lifestyle, meet the interests and aspirations of different groups, and create enjoyable sporting experiences for all age categories. Participation in the various activities is available through the official Qatar Sports for All Federation application.
