Sports and recreational activities organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and targeting people with disabilities, are witnessing strong engagement and turnout. These weekly activities are attracting increasing numbers of participants from the Autism Parents Platform and Al Shafallah Center, with four sessions held monthly for the platform and weekly sessions every Sunday for Al Shafallah members, in addition to two monthly training sessions for members of Yadan Biyad Center. These initiatives come as part of the federation’s community role and its ongoing efforts to support all segments of society and encourage regular participation in sports.
The activities held last Monday evening included a variety of programs for Autism Parents Platform members under the supervision of the federation’s coaches. They featured a range of exercises, sports, and awareness activities, including ball games, hurdle jumping, tele-match competitions, tug-of-war, fitness exercises, and movement-based games that help energize children and enhance their social interaction. The sessions also included entertainment segments that created a lively and enjoyable atmosphere, helping children release energy and encouraging active participation and movement.
Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, stated that the federation continues to implement an ongoing series of sports and recreational events for members of Al Shafallah Center and the Autism Parents Platform, reflecting its commitment to supporting various segments of society and strengthening their presence across different fields, with a particular focus on persons with disabilties through specialized programs tailored to their needs.
He explained that these efforts are part of a clear strategy aimed at reaching all segments of society through a comprehensive annual calendar that includes more than 850 events and tournaments this year. The goal is to expand sports participation, increase the number of active participants, and establish sports as a way of life. The strong turnout from various community groups reflects the success of these initiatives in attracting participants and achieving their intended objectives, as well as the growing role of parents in encouraging their children to take part and benefit from these activities, which contribute to positive behavioral changes and strengthen their connection to physical activity.
Al-Dosari emphasized the importance of dedicated programs for people with disabilities in ensuring sustained participation and promoting positive lifestyle changes, which in turn improve physical and mental health, enhance quality of life, and support social inclusion. He reaffirmed the federation’s commitment to introducing innovative initiatives that develop skills, foster cooperation, and highlight the abilities of this group. He also noted that the federation will continue expanding its partnerships with various entities across the country to organize diverse activities that reinforce the value of sports in society and encourage participation among all groups, especially children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
