The seven participating shopping centers in the “Mall Walking Steps Challenge”—covering a distance of 10,000 steps—were transformed into vibrant hubs of movement and energy over the past two months. The national campaign, launched by the Qatar Sports for All Federation under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, has attracted large numbers of participants until the end of this month. Families, men, women, and children walked side by side, turning walking into a collective experience filled with enthusiasm and determination to improve fitness.

The challenge continues until the end of this month, with Festival City Mall hosting daily activities full of energy and fun, drawing in youth, children, and even seniors. Since its launch, the Steps Challenge has expanded and gained even more popularity. At Qatar Mall, participants turned the air-conditioned corridors into lively spaces for walking away from the summer heat—an inspiring scene that reflects the growing awareness of the importance of exercising indoors.

The challenge also brings an added dimension with exciting walks at Al Hazm Mall, Hayat Plaza, Tawar Mall, Abu Sidra Mall, and Laguna Mall. These venues were selected as preferred sites through the “Sport for All” app, where participants can join all walking rounds by activating the step-counting feature. Many mall visitors joined the challenge and expressed their happiness and appreciation for this wonderful initiative, which encourages consistent and anytime walking.

Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, stated that the 10,000 Steps Challenge has so far witnessed good turnout and growing daily participation from people of all ages and backgrounds. He explained that the challenge will continue in all participating malls until the end of the month, with varied side activities and prizes to enrich the experience and attract more community members to join in.

He added that the national campaign aims to establish walking as a daily lifestyle habit, noting that the sight of families exercising together represents the highest goal of the initiative—promoting a healthy and active way of life. He stressed that reaching 10,000 steps a day is an ideal benchmark for maintaining fitness and enhancing overall health.

Al-Dosari also highlighted that spreading the challenge across seven malls in different areas of the country ensures wider community participation, with weekly and monthly incentive prizes awarded to those who complete the challenge—fostering motivation and consistency.

He concluded by emphasizing that the Steps Challenge is no longer just a sports event, but rather an inspiring community experience that brings families together and instills a culture of active living, as everyone walks together toward better health and a more energetic future.
