The General Assembly of Umm Salal Club has elected His Excellency Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Thani as President of the club, and His Excellency Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saud Al Thani as Vice President by acclamation for the upcoming election cycle (2024-2028).

This decision was made during the General Assembly meeting held today at the club’s headquarters, after achieving the required quorum, with the presence of founding members, active members, and representatives from the Ministry of Sports and Youth. Additionally, Mr. Mohammed Salem Al-Nuaimi was appointed as the club’s Executive Director.

In his statement, His Excellency Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the newly elected President of Umm Salal Club, emphasized that his presidency is a significant responsibility. He noted that the administration aims to continue efforts to guide Umm Salal Club in the right direction and to achieve accomplishments that meet the expectations and aspirations of the club’s fans and members.

He also praised the significant progress made by the club’s first team under the leadership of French coach Patrice Carteron, who has brought about substantial changes and renewed hope for achieving a top-four finish in the Qatari Stars League (“QNB Stars League”) this season.

The President of Umm Salal Club highlighted that the team’s technical stability is expected to have a positive impact on the club’s performance. Numerous signings of professional players have been made to strengthen the squad.

His Excellency Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Thani also mentioned that the club has successfully achieved several goals over the past years, including securing investment income and self-generated revenue, as well as building a distinct vision for the club. He emphasized that the strategy implemented by the club has allowed it to progress in the right direction across various technical, administrative, and organizational levels.

Additionally, the President expressed his great satisfaction with the success of the club’s football academy, which has seen 26 players join the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence. The academy has also achieved numerous championships and top positions at the youth level, including winning the reserve league championship.
