As part of its ongoing efforts to promote scientific culture and foster innovation among various age groups, the Qatar Scientific Club, a partner of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, is offering the “Scientific Winter 25” program from 21 December to 7 January. The program features a distinguished package of scientific programs and specialized workshops in the fields of robotics, artificial intelligence, electronics, and programming, in line with the latest scientific and technological developments.
The “Scientific Winter 25” program holds special significance as it is implemented during the students’ winter break. The Qatar Scientific Club has been keen to design activities that combine enjoyment with learning, relying primarily on hands-on, practical application. The focus on software and artificial intelligence stems from their importance as sciences of the modern era and from the club’s aim to make them accessible to its students through modern, interactive educational methods.
The club noted that the positive impact of these programs has become clearly evident in the performance and behavior of participants. This is reflected in the repeated turnout of parents registering their children year after year, despite the program having been launched more than two years ago—an indication of satisfaction and trust in the scientific content provided.
Empowering the Future Generation
In a statement, Engineer Abdulrahman Saleh Khamis, Deputy Executive Director of the Qatar Scientific Club, affirmed that the club is seriously committed to delivering modern scientific programs that contribute to developing and empowering the future generation. He explained that these programs are comprehensive, up to date, and cover a wide range of scientific and technological skills that help participants choose suitable academic specializations and meet labor market needs.
He added that the workshops were carefully prepared over sufficient time, based on in-depth studies of participants’ needs and interests, which are continuously monitored through surveys reflecting their opinions and suggestions. The club’s management strives to translate these insights into tangible outcomes on the ground.
Engineer Abdulrahman also emphasized that the club places special importance on selecting trainers and supervisors, considering them a cornerstone of the programs’ success. Passionate and experienced professionals were chosen, capable of engaging different age groups, motivating participants, and creating a positive, interactive learning environment.
Makers Oasis
The Scientific Winter 25 program focuses on youth and adults through the club’s Makers Oasis, which offers a specialized program titled “Professional Use of Raspberry Pi with Artificial Intelligence.” Participants learn how to use the Raspberry Pi 5 mini-computer, acquire the basics of Python programming, connect sensors, and implement artificial intelligence systems for real-time object recognition. They also apply the acquired knowledge by building their own AI-based prototypes.
The program also includes a workshop titled “A Practical Introduction to Quantum Computing,” which aims to build a simplified, hands-on understanding of quantum computing concepts. Participants are trained to create quantum circuits and run them on simulators using Python, while learning about qubits, measurement, superposition, and entanglement through practical experiments. The workshop culminates in a mini project that links theory with application and measures learning outcomes.
Artificial Intelligence Workshop
In the Promising Innovator section, an Artificial Intelligence in Science workshop is offered for younger age groups. This introductory training workshop aims to simplify AI concepts and introduce participants to its role in various scientific fields, relying on enjoyable hands-on activities and experiments that enhance understanding and application, encourage innovative thinking, and link technology with science in a simple and effective manner.
The “Artificial Intelligence in Science” workshop focuses on introducing participants to the concept of AI, its types, and its areas of application through practical examples in medicine, space, the environment, and robotics. It also includes activities and simplified experiments that demonstrate machine learning mechanisms and data analysis. In addition, the workshop explores the future of artificial intelligence and its role in supporting scientific innovation, presenting concepts in a carefully designed interactive manner that is accessible and engaging for children.
