The Youth Department at Qatar Sports Club organized a recreational festival for youth and persons with disabilities as part of the 2025 Summer Camp, aimed at strengthening community partnerships and promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities in youth and sports activities.

Mr. Mohammed Abdulrahim Al-Haidous, Head of the Youth Department, stated that the festival was held in partnership with the Doha International Center for Persons with Disabilities under the slogan “Our Summer for Our Youth”, with the goal of providing an interactive experience that enhances the integration of persons with disabilities into community activities.

Mr. Ali Al-Ghuwas Al-Marri, Programs and Events Coordinator at the Youth Department, welcomed H.E. Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Advisor and Expert on Disability Affairs and Director General of the Doha International Center for Persons with Disabilities, along with a delegation and members of the center. They were warmly received by the summer camp participants, who lined up to greet them with applause and a heartfelt welcome.

The festival featured interactive inclusion programs, with participants—both youth and persons with disabilities—divided into mixed groups to enjoy a variety of sports and recreational activities. These included football, basketball, table tennis, archery, badminton, chess, drawing and coloring, and table football.

Al-Haidous emphasized the importance of sustaining community partnerships with various institutions, particularly those focused on disability-related services. He praised the engagement of both the center’s members and the summer camp participants, noting the high level of mutual respect and integration that reflected the success of the event.

For her part, Dr. Hala Al-Saeed commended the efforts of the Youth Department at Qatar Sports Club and highlighted the longstanding depth of their community partnership. She pointed out that Qatar was among the first countries to ratify the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which entered into force on May 3, 2008. She stressed that the convention underscores the personal and human rights of persons with disabilities and urges all state institutions to work in the areas of empowerment, rehabilitation, employment, and the provision of both material and moral support to ensure their active participation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and Qatar National Vision 2030.

At the conclusion of the festival, Mr. Ali Al-Marri honored Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, while commemorative gifts were distributed to the center’s members, and group photos were taken in an atmosphere filled with warmth and joy.

Al-Haidous concluded by reaffirming that Qatar Sports Club welcomes youth and persons with disabilities throughout the year, calling for the promotion of a culture of understanding and engagement with persons with disabilities in all fields. He emphasized the importance of meeting their needs and providing means of adaptation and coexistence tailored to each case—particularly physical, visual, and hearing impairments—in a way that supports their full inclusion in society.
