Rawdat Al Khail Park hosted the “Family Day” event organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation, in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth and in cooperation with the Doha Municipality, coinciding with Qatar’s Family Day celebrations.

The event took place in a lively family atmosphere filled with sports and recreational activities that provided participants with enjoyable moments. The activities lasted for two hours on Wednesday from 4:00 PM and included a variety of sports and entertainment competitions such as football, volleyball, archery, and self-defense training through Muay Thai, which saw strong participation from all family members. It also featured tug-of-war competitions and children’s activities such as drawing and coloring. In addition, Doha Municipality organized workshops on tree planting and environmental preservation.

Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, stated that Family Day featured an enjoyable sporting atmosphere with strong participation from all family members. He noted that such events, regularly organized in open public spaces, are an effective way to encourage continuous sports participation within society. He emphasized that the initiative supports the federation’s vision of promoting community sports in a healthy and safe family environment, while providing enjoyable open events that encourage all family members to engage in physical activities that enhance public health and combine recreation with exercise.

He added that the federation places great importance on diversifying sports events and activities to meet the interests of different age groups and attract more enthusiasts of physical activity. He also stressed the importance of encouraging society to adopt simple, everyday sports habits, highlighting that integrating families into sports activities is a key objective of the federation. He explained that exercising together as parents and children strengthens family bonds, instills positive values, and promotes an active lifestyle among younger generations.

He further noted that the Qatar Sports for All Federation regularly organizes inclusive family events such as “Family Races,” which include recreational activities aimed at strengthening family cohesion and promoting a sustainable healthy lifestyle. These initiatives aim to make sports a daily lifestyle for all family members, while providing programs suitable for different age groups.

Qatar celebrates Family Day annually on April 15 as a national occasion aimed at strengthening family cohesion, reinforcing authentic Qatari values, and highlighting the family’s role as a cornerstone of society.
