Qatar Youth Hostels has launched the second edition of the “Google Local Guide” program as part of its efforts to enhance domestic tourism and enrich personal experiences by encouraging the community to produce digital tourism content that meets the expectations of visitors and residents.

The program is based on the use of Google Maps, encouraging participants to review locations and visit tourist, cultural, and sports landmarks. It aims to develop digital tourism content through community engagement.

The program targets two age groups: 13–17 years and 18–39 years. It includes multiple tasks such as writing reviews, adding photos, updating information, and adding new locations to the map, contributing to the development of digital tourism content.

This edition also introduces new categories to expand participation opportunities, along with cash prizes of up to 7,500 Qatari riyals for top winners in each category. Abdullah Saeed, Head of Public Relations and Communications, confirmed that the program focuses on supporting sustainable tourism and attracting new segments of participants, in line with the strategy of the Ministry of Sports and Youth.
