Qatar announced today, Friday, that it will host the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup for football clubs next December, featuring the champion clubs of the continents.

His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, Minister of Sports and Youth, said in a press statement: “We are pleased to host another prestigious sporting event that adds to Qatar’s long record of honorable achievements. Hosting the final three matches of the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup is a clear testament to Qatar’s ability and excellence in organizing world-class sporting events.”

He added: “Almost two years after hosting the best-ever edition of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, we are proud to host the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup. We look forward to welcoming several prominent football stars in a remarkable event that highlights the enduring legacy of Qatar 2022.”

The 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup is one of the most important and prominent tournaments organized by the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA) at the club level. The English club Manchester City holds the title of the 2023 edition, and FIFA considers it the most significant annual club tournament, where the winning team is crowned with the global title.
