Qatar Sports for All Federation Unveils Details of the 8th Edition of the Qatar East-to-West Ultramarathon

The Qatar Sports for All Federation has announced details for the eighth edition of the Qatar East-to-West Ultramarathon, an international race that begins at the Doha Corniche and finishes at Dukhan Beach, covering a total distance of 90 kilometers.

The race is scheduled to take place on December 5, 2025, in cooperation with the Qatar Runners Team. Participation is open to both men and women aged 18 and above.

The Qatar Ultramarathon is an international endurance race where participants challenge the desert trails as they cross the country from east to west. The previous edition saw the participation of 1,500 runners.

Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, stated that the 2025 edition of the ultramarathon is expected to be even more distinguished than previous ones.

Al-Dosari said:
“The race is organized and sponsored by the Qatar Sports for All Federation and is part of this year’s comprehensive Sports for All calendar, which includes more than 750 events and championships. It also forms part of the Federation’s major races and marathon agenda throughout the year.”

He added:
“Participation is open to amateur runners, both men and women, provided they are medically fit. We anticipate an increase in the number of participants this year compared to the previous edition.”

He continued:
“What sets this race apart is its 90 km distance, starting from Sheraton Park on the Doha Corniche, passing through Al Shahaniya, Al Nasraniya, Al Owaina, and Al Kubay, and ending at Dukhan Beach. There will be five hydration stations along the route, and ambulances and police will be present to support and assist participants.”
He noted that the race may take between 12 to 16 hours, with the fastest individual runner completing the course in about 6 hours, compared to around 5 hours and a few minutes for team relays.

It’s worth noting that the previous edition included approximately 1,500 participants from 73 nationalities, including 733 men and 267 women of various backgrounds.
