The Qatar Sports for All Federation, operating under the Ministry of Sports and Youth, participated on Monday afternoon in the World Diabetes Day Walk, organized by the Qatar Diabetes Association, in cooperation with Qatar Foundation at Aspire Park. The event welcomed participants of all age groups and families accompanied by their children, aiming to raise awareness on the importance of regular physical activity in preventing chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity. This participation comes as part of QSFA’s ongoing efforts to promote physical activity and encourage healthy lifestyle habits.
QSFA also held a variety of sports and recreational activities from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m., including physical exercises, Muay Thai, tug of war, archery, goalball, and chess. The activities attracted significant participation from all age groups, who enjoyed the sporting atmosphere amid the park’s green spaces and along the designated running and walking tracks.
Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of QSFA, stated that organizing sporting activities on this occasion reaffirms the Federation’s commitment to supporting global health initiatives and raising awareness about the importance of regular physical activity for all members of the community. This, he noted, contributes to positive health, social, and psychological outcomes and encourages the adoption of active lifestyles as a preventive measure against diabetes.
Al-Dosari praised the strong turnout, which reflects the growing awareness of the importance of exercise in combating chronic diseases and leading a healthier life. He noted that the Federation offers an extensive annual calendar of sports activities throughout the year, including health-oriented programs such as “Waznak Al-Sehi” for biometric measurements, along with running events, sports programs in public parks, children’s sports camps, and activities held in conjunction with global observances such as World Walking Day, Autism Awareness Day, and International Day of Persons with Disabilities. He called on all members of the community to participate in these programs and benefit from the high-quality opportunities provided by the Federation to engage in physical activity and support health awareness, contributing to improved quality of life and the adoption of active, healthy, and balanced lifestyles.
World Diabetes Day is considered the world’s largest diabetes awareness campaign, reaching more than one billion people in over 160 countries. It is observed annually on November 14.
