Under the guidance of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Qatar Scientific Club, in cooperation with Doha Municipality, organized a tree-planting campaign covering the club’s premises and surrounding areas. This initiative forms part of the club’s efforts to raise environmental awareness among youth and instill the principles of sustainable development in society, as part of Qatar Sustainability Week 2025.

The campaign aimed to educate participants on the importance of trees and green cover, the role of afforestation in improving air quality and preserving biodiversity, and the basics of planting, gardening, and environmental sustainability principles. It also emphasized fostering individual environmental responsibility and promoting teamwork and voluntary participation as a societal value that supports cooperation for the benefit of the environment and the community.

Participants from the club planted a variety of local trees and plants suited to Qatar’s climate, under the supervision of specialists from the Parks Department at Doha Municipality, who provided practical guidance on proper planting and plant care techniques.

Eng. Abdulrahman Saleh Khamis, Deputy Executive Director of the Qatar Scientific Club, stated: “This initiative aligns with the club’s approach to enhancing cooperation with various government entities and national institutions to serve the public interest and contribute to achieving Qatar’s sustainability goals. We believe that environmental awareness starts with the younger generation, which is why we organize practical activities like this campaign to instill environmental protection values in youth and encourage their contribution to green initiatives.”

Meanwhile, Mr. Salem Abdullah Al-Marri, Head of the Parks and Gardens Department at Doha Municipality, emphasized the importance of such environmental campaigns in raising environmental awareness among the new generation, noting that these activities provide students with hands-on experience in planting trees and developing green spaces.

Qatar Sustainability Week serves as an important national platform to highlight efforts and initiatives that support environmental, social, and economic sustainability in the country. The participation of the Qatar Scientific Club in this event underscores its pioneering role in promoting scientific and environmental culture, encouraging youth to engage in innovation and volunteer work for the benefit of society.
