Doha: August 2, 2026:

In a new step reflecting Qatar’s commitment to building a knowledge-based economy and fostering a culture of innovation among youth, the Qatar Scientific Club, affiliated with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, officially launched the implementation phase of the “Young Inventors” program on Sunday, August 2, 2026. The program is part of the national initiative introduced by the Ministry of Sports and Youth during Web Summit 2026.

The program aims to identify and nurture talented youthbetween the ages of 15 and 30 with an interest in science, technology, and innovation, while preparing a new generation of inventors and innovators capable of developing creative solutions that contribute to sustainable development and strengthen Qatar’s competitiveness in science, technology, and innovation.

In this context, Engineer Aisha Al Jaber, Program Director, stated that the “Young Inventors” program reflects the Qatar Scientific Club’s vision of establishing a comprehensive national ecosystem to support youth innovation by providing an advanced scientific environment that enables participants to transform their ideas from concepts into practical implementation.

She explained that the Qatar Scientific Club is placing all of its technical and scientific resources at the participants’ disposal by providing laboratories, fabrication workshops, modern equipment and technologies, as well as technical support and scientific consultation from a distinguished group of experts and specialists. This ensures participants receive a comprehensive learning experience that enables them to develop their projects according to the highest scientific and engineering standards.

Engineer Aisha Al Jaber concluded her remarks by thanking the program’s partners, including Qatar University, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Qatar Foundation, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Qatar Business Incubation Center, Qatar Science & Technology Park, Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council, and Qatar Development Bank. She emphasized that the combined efforts of these national institutions represent a leading model of partnership in supporting innovation, empowering youth, and preparing a new generation of inventors capable of developing innovative solutions that serve society and align with Qatar’s aspirations.

The program features a comprehensive series of hands-on workshops and interactive activities that guide participants through every stage of the innovation process, beginning with idea generation, followed by concept development and feasibility studies, and culminating in prototype design, fabrication, testing, and presentation before specialized evaluation committees. Participants will utilize advanced technologies in programming, electronics, and both two- and three-dimensional engineering design, while also taking part in team competitions leading up to a final exhibition recognizing the best inventions and innovative projects.

The program consists of three main training phases. It begins with the Design Thinking phase, which focuses on developing creative thinking skills, refining ideas, preparing feasibility studies, and benefiting from expert mentoring sessions. This is followed by the Engineering Design phase, where participants learn engineering design methods, technical drafting, and material selection. The final phase, Project Implementation, emphasizes practical application, with participants working in specialized teams to build and test prototypes before producing fully developed models ready for exhibition and evaluation.

The program is expected to produce a range of innovative solutions and prototypes addressing real-life challenges while strengthening participants’ skills in creative thinking, engineering design, teamwork, and the use of advanced technologies. It will also prepare them to pursue careers in innovation and entrepreneurship, further supporting Qatar’s knowledge-based economy.

The program embodies the Ministry of Sports and Youth’s vision of investing in young national talent by providing a comprehensive educational and practical environment that combines scientific knowledge with hands-on application, enabling participants to transform innovative ideas into prototypes with real development potential while strengthening their capabilities in creativity, entrepreneurship, and technological innovation.
