The Qatar Scientific Club, an affiliate of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, has concluded its summer scientific camp under the theme “Science and Technology Pioneers.”
Over several weeks, the camp featured a diverse range of scientific and technical programs, workshops, and innovation projects, with strong participation from young men and women.
The camp was organized as part of the club’s efforts to make productive use of the summer vacation by developing young people’s skills, fostering their interest in science and technology, and encouraging them to turn creative ideas into practical projects and prototypes. The initiative aligns with the club’s strategic objectives and the Ministry of Sports and Youth’s efforts to empower young people and support learning, research, and innovation.
As part of the camp, the Qatar Scientific Club, in cooperation with the Public Works Authority (Ashghal), organized the fifth edition of the “Future Engineer” program, with the participation of 40 young men and women.
The program resulted in the development of six innovative projects addressing energy consumption reduction, worker safety, pothole detection, wastewater management, smart cities, and improving preventive maintenance efficiency.
In cooperation with the Qatar Society of Engineers, the club also organized the second edition of the STEM Summer Program 2026, which ran for two weeks with 40 participants. The program concluded with the development of a number of innovative projects.
In the fields of data and artificial intelligence, the Qatar Scientific Club, in cooperation with the National Planning Council and Microsoft, organized the second edition of the Summer Data Camp, attracting 37 participants.
The camp resulted in seven projects inspired by the themes of Qatar National Vision 2030, covering areas such as schools, population growth, and access to healthcare under the human development pillar, as well as sports facilities and road safety under the social development pillar, among others.
As part of the summer camp, the first phase of the “Young Inventors” program was also completed, with 34 participants. The second phase is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Sunday, to continue developing participants’ ideas and projects and transform them into more advanced prototypes and outcomes.
Meanwhile, the Makerspace Department conducted seven main workshops attended by 84 participants, in addition to providing technical, technological, and logistical support for several collaborative programs with partner organizations.
The workshops covered emerging technologies, including digital manufacturing using 3D printing and its applications in education, medicine, industry, and art. They also covered artificial intelligence and digital manufacturing using CNC technology, including component design, converting designs into manufacturing instructions, and implementing practical projects.
The Automotive Mechanics Department conducted six specialized training workshops and organized a Car Repair Challenge, attracting 74 participants. The workshops covered a range of practical automotive topics.
The Promising Innovator Department delivered 12 training workshops covering diverse scientific and technological fields, benefiting 840 participants.
These included mental sports and the “Creative Minds Challenge”, designed to develop concentration, mental speed, and creative thinking. The “STEM Journey to Space” program introduced participants to the components of the atmosphere, the analysis of indicators of potential life, and physical phenomena associated with the planet. Participants also used Arduino systems and sensors to collect and analyze atmospheric data.
Through the “From Idea to Smart Prototype” program, participants learned how to transform ideas into prototypes, develop interactive projects, and design and program smart devices, 3D models, and robots.
The Qatar Scientific Club also delivered a number of lectures and training workshops for youth centers and clubs on artificial intelligence and its applications, led by qualified Qatari trainers.
Fatima Al Muhannadi, Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Qatar Scientific Club, said the club succeeded this summer in achieving the camp’s targeted indicators, whether in terms of participant numbers, meeting program objectives, or the innovative projects developed by participants throughout the camp.
She also highlighted the camp’s role in empowering Qatari youth, preparing qualified young leaders equipped with practical experience, and creating an environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
Al Muhannadi added that the diversity of programs and partnerships featured in the summer camp reflects the Qatar Scientific Club’s commitment to providing young people with an environment that combines knowledge, hands-on experience, application, and innovation, helping prepare a generation capable of keeping pace with scientific and technological developments and contributing effectively to Qatar’s national development.
