The Qatar Olympic Committee today launched the “Boundless Ambition” project, which aims to empower youth and communities around the world through sport, in cooperation with World Athletics and the Qatar Fund for Development.
The project was announced through an agreement signed by His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al-Buainain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, and Mr. Fahad bin Hamad Al-Sulaiti, Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development, in the presence of Mr. Jon Ridgeon, Chief Executive Officer of World Athletics.
Under the new project, the State of Qatar will build 11 athletics tracks in 11 countries, including Palestine, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, the Cook Islands, Panama, Anguilla, Dominica, Burundi, Tanzania, and Ukraine.
The project reflects Qatar’s deep belief in the role of sport in promoting sustainable development and peace, and underscores its commitment to making this sporting legacy a practical tool for creating tangible positive change in the lives of youth and communities.
The new tracks to be constructed will take into account the needs of athletes with disabilities and sustainability standards, as they will rely on environmentally friendly materials. They will also serve as community hubs that promote values of sporting excellence and strengthen young athletes’ sense of belonging to their communities.
On this occasion, His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al-Buainain, Secretary General of the Qatar Olympic Committee, said:
“Through the ‘Boundless Ambition’ project, we seek to build a world in which every athlete has the opportunity to practice athletics in a suitable environment, where they can unleash their dreams and ambitions. The 2019 World Athletics Championships gave the State of Qatar the opportunity to raise the ceiling of its ambitions, and this project will open new horizons for young athletes to reach their full potential.”
He added: “We are proud that the legacy of the World Athletics Championships – Doha 2019 continues through this ambitious project, which contributes to shaping the future of athletics worldwide, transcending geographical boundaries and serving as a symbol of hope and opportunity creation.”
For his part, Mr. Fahad bin Hamad Al-Sulaiti, Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development, said: “At the Qatar Fund for Development, we believe that sport is a key driver of human development and social progress, and today’s partnership with the Qatar Olympic Committee embodies this firm commitment. By establishing inclusive and sustainable athletics tracks in communities in need, we aim to empower youth, develop their capacities, and provide them with opportunities to achieve their full potential. This initiative is not limited to building facilities, but rather seeks to lay the foundations for a brighter and more prosperous future for all.”
In turn, Mr. Jon Ridgeon, Chief Executive Officer of World Athletics, said: “Many regions of the world are rich in promising athletics talent, yet many of these talents lack the infrastructure that enables them to reveal their full potential. This is where the importance of the ‘Boundless Ambition’ project comes into focus.”

The cooperation between World Athletics, the Qatar Olympic Committee, and the Qatar Fund for Development is a model of strategic partnership that places people at the heart of its priorities—an approach our sport needs in order to continue its development.”
He concluded: “Through this project, we will work together to strengthen the infrastructure of national federations and create new pathways for young athletes, ensuring that the legacy of the World Athletics Championships – Doha 2019 extends far beyond the borders of the State of Qatar.
