The Qatar Football Association (QFA) announced the appointment of His Excellency Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani as President of the Association and Sheikh Tamim bin Mohammed Al Thani as Vice President.

In a statement, the Association said that the appointment was approved by the QFA Executive Committee during its meeting today, adding that it comes as part of completing the current Board of Directors’ term through 2027. The decision will be submitted for ratification at the Association’s General Assembly, which is scheduled to convene next September.

The QFA Executive Committee had previously decided, during an earlier meeting, to nominate two members to fill the positions of President and Vice President following the resignation of His Excellency Mr. Jassim bin Rashid Al Buenain, President of the Association, and Mr. Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Vice President, in accordance with the applicable procedures and regulations.

The Executive Committee meeting also reviewed the Association’s activities and the latest developments, in addition to a report on the participation of the Qatar national team in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
