The Qatar Chess Federation has announced details of its Summer Program 2026, which will be held at the federation’s training center from 5 to 30 July 2026.
The summer activities program, held under the patronage of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, includes a variety of activities aimed at teaching participants the fundamentals of chess and developing strategic thinking skills. The program is part of the federation’s efforts to expand participation in the game, identify talents, and attract more players to join the training center, while developing plans to enhance their abilities and refine their skills in an educational and interactive environment.
The statement noted that the activities will be divided over four weeks and will take place daily from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for boys and girls aged 6 to 12 years.
The Chess Federation has included a range of activities as part of the summer program agenda, including cultural, educational, and recreational workshops, in cooperation with several entities such as the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Qatar Scientific Club, the Qatar Sports for All Federation, and Hayat Plaza Mall.
Mr. Hamad Al Tamimi, Executive Director of the Qatar Chess Federation, stated that the federation was keen to continue organizing the summer program following the great success achieved last year and the strong participation and engagement from attendees.
Al Tamimi emphasized that the federation aims to promote a culture of chess as part of its strategy to develop the game, build a strong foundation for future players, enhance thinking skills and sporting abilities, and strengthen participants’ self-confidence.
He explained that the summer program will feature a selection of the federation’s experienced coaches, with a plan designed to implement the program over four weeks during July. He added that the program will provide significant momentum through efforts to discover talents, refine their abilities, and support their development.
