In partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Qatar Sports for All Federation has confirmed the completion of all preparations for the 2026 Eid Running Race, which will be organized in cooperation with Old Doha Port.
The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 28 May, at the Port Park located behind the Terminal Building. The race forms part of the Federation’s community sports initiatives aimed at promoting physical activity and encouraging healthy lifestyles among all segments of society.
The Federation has invited running enthusiasts from across Qatar, including citizens and residents, men and women alike, to participate in the event by registering through the Sports for All application and enjoying the unique family-oriented atmosphere that the race offers.
The competitions will begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m., with race categories designed to accommodate a wide range of age groups. Participants aged 17 years and above will compete over a distance of 2.3 miles, while children and teenagers aged 7 to 16 years will take part in a one-mile race. A separate half-mile race has also been designated for children aged 3 to 6 years, with the objective of encouraging young children to engage in sports from an early age and develop the skills and confidence needed to participate in longer races as they grow older.
Mr. Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, stated that the Eid Running Race represents a continuation of the Federation’s ongoing sports and community programs, which are organized throughout the year to expand community participation and strengthen the culture of sports and physical activity.
He explained that the race provides an ideal environment for improving physical fitness while also offering families an opportunity to spend quality time together during the Eid holiday through healthy and enjoyable activities. Al Dosari noted that the Federation’s running events consistently attract strong participation from men, women, and children of all ages, which is why organizers strive to include a variety of accompanying entertainment programs and family-friendly activities.
In addition to the race itself, participants will be able to enjoy warm-up sessions, light fitness activities, recreational games, and a range of engaging entertainment programs designed to create an enjoyable experience for all attendees. These activities help enhance the competitive spirit of the event while maximizing the social and health benefits of participation.
The Qatar Sports for All Federation considers community races among its most successful and effective initiatives for encouraging people of all ages to adopt active lifestyles. By organizing events across different regions of the country and tailoring them to diverse age groups, the Federation seeks to make sports accessible to everyone and reinforce the concept of physical activity as a way of life.
These efforts align with the vision of the Ministry of Sports and Youth to strengthen the principles of “Sports for All”and build a healthier, more active society through regular participation in sports and recreational activities.
