The Qatar Sports for All Federation, under the umbrella of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, organized a sports and entertainment day for the members of Al-Shafallah Center, coinciding with World Down Syndrome Day. The event saw the participation of a large number of children from the center, totaling more than 100 boys and girls. The aim of the event was to empower and integrate individuals with intellectual disabilities into society by organizing various activities in an atmosphere full of interaction and fun.

The activities were highly diverse to suit the abilities and potential of the participants, where the children enjoyed a wide range of sports and recreational activities in an energetic and interactive environment. The activities included exercises, sports advice, awareness programs, and a variety of games such as ball games, hurdle jumping, basketball, tennis, “Telly Match” competitions, simple fitness exercises, various physical games, and self-defense training through “Muay Thai.” Additionally, there were group recreational games that energized the children, bringing them more activity and joy.

Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, stated that this initiative is the second one organized in collaboration with Al-Shafallah Center as part of an ongoing partnership. The goal is to organize many events and activities within the federation’s strategy to establish the concept of inclusive sports. This initiative aims to engage all community groups in various sports events and activities, promoting the role of sports in serving society and emphasizing the importance of providing opportunities for everyone to practice sports continuously.

Al-Dosari emphasized that the federation gives special attention to sports for people with special needs and is keen to strengthen cooperation with various entities and institutions in the country through organizing diverse sports and recreational events. This helps solidify the importance of sports as an essential part of daily life.

The federation seeks to spread the culture of practicing sports among all segments of society through its packed agenda, which includes more than 750 activities and events this year. These initiatives aim to foster a spirit of participation and reinforce the belief that sports is a right for all, without exception. Earlier this month, the Qatar Sports for All Federation organized another sports and entertainment day for the members of Al-Shafallah Center in conjunction with the Gulf Disability Week.
