Under the moonlight and along the Doha Corniche, in a remarkable and exceptional sporting evening, the Old Doha Port hosted the “Night Run For Her” race, organized by the Qatar Sports for All Federation in cooperation with the Ministry of Sports and Youth. The event marked the first women-only night race of its kind, held on Saturday evening in collaboration with Agor Sport, featuring an inspiring competitive atmosphere and a unique new experience as part of the Federation’s annual series of community races.

The race activities began at 4:00 p.m. and continued for two hours until 6:00 p.m. along a designated route starting from the eastern parking area of Doha Port, passing through the retail zone and the running track, and reaching the mega-cruise ship terminal area. The event witnessed a wide participation from women of various nationalities, with a total of 812 runners representing 67 countries, contributing to a fresh and inclusive community experience that provided a dedicated, safe, and encouraging environment for women in sports.

Women from multiple age categories took part in the race, including Open, Masters, Intermediate, Juniors, and Children. Participants ranged from girls as young as three years old to women over 40. The 5 km race route—out and back—was designated for the first-level competition across four categories. The second-level race covered 1,600 meters, while 800 meters were allocated for girls aged 7 to 9, and 400 meters for ages 3 to 6. The event concluded with the awards ceremony honoring the top three winners in each category. Mr. Abdullah Al-Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, presented the medals in a celebratory atmosphere. All participants who completed the race distance were also recognized in appreciation of their effort and encouragement to join future races.

Mr. Al-Dosari shared his comments on the success of the event, noting that the race carries significant importance as the first-ever night run for women and girls in Qatar, offering the highest levels of privacy and safety and encouraging women to engage in sport. He praised the exceptional participation of Qatari women, who numbered at 560 runners, describing it as a reflection of the growing societal awareness in Qatar about the importance of physical activity. He added that the race is a valuable addition to the Federation’s series of community races and a great opportunity to make use of Qatar’s rich variety of sporting and tourist destinations.

Al-Dosari explained that through this race and in cooperation with all partners, the Federation aims to attract the largest possible number of women and their daughters to participate in the various sports activities it organizes throughout the year. He emphasized that the supporting entities played a vital role in the success and distinctive presentation of the event. The race was supported by Sun Life Pharmacy, Approved Market, Off Cupree, Gold Apple, and Al Rayyan Water Company, all of whom contributed to enriching the experience and providing an ideal environment for participants and visitors. This first-of-its-kind night race represents a unique and exceptional experience that will strengthen women’s participation in future sporting events.
