In partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, the Qatar Sports for All Federation hosted a new session of the “Your Healthy Weight” program at the training hall of Lusail Sports Arena on Monday afternoon. The program is designed for children aged 9 to 14 years and is one of the Federation’s flagship initiatives aimed at promoting the concept of “Sports for All,” encouraging healthy lifestyles among young people, raising awareness of proper nutrition, and supporting participants in achieving and maintaining a healthy weight.

The two-hour session, held from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, received strong engagement from children in an enjoyable and interactive environment. The program featured a variety of physical activities, including endurance and flexibility exercises such as planks, squats, stretching routines, and running, alongside other recreational and sports-based activities. All sessions were conducted under the supervision of qualified coaches and trainers.

In addition to the physical activities, the program included health-awareness components through educational lectures and medical guidance. Health screenings and biometric assessments, including blood pressure and blood glucose measurements, were conducted in cooperation with the Primary Health Care Corporation. Practical nutritional advice was also provided to children and their families on effective strategies for healthy weight management and maintaining a balanced daily lifestyle.

The program continues to receive strong support from parents, many of whom actively encourage their children to participate and adopt healthier, more active habits. A new session is scheduled to take place this afternoon, with the program running every Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday.

Mr. Abdullah Al Dosari, Executive Director of the Qatar Sports for All Federation, stated that the Federation continues to organize the “Your Healthy Weight” program three times per week in order to accommodate a larger number of participants, particularly children. He explained that the initiative aims to educate young people about the importance of physical activity as the foundation of a healthy life and a sound body.

Al Dosari noted that the program contributes to combating obesity, supports the maintenance of a healthy weight, helps prevent chronic diseases, and encourages children to spend their free time engaging in beneficial physical activities that positively transform their daily routines. He also highlighted the success of previous editions of the program, which attracted participants from different age groups, including men and women, by offering integrated services that help individuals better understand their health status while providing medical and sports-related guidance to support a more active lifestyle.

Through its diverse range of recreational, competitive, educational, and health-focused initiatives, the Qatar Sports for All Federation aims to encourage participation across all segments of society. Its annual calendar for this year includes more than 850 events, activities, and competitions, reflecting the Federation’s commitment to providing opportunities for men, women, children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities to engage in sports and adopt healthier, more active lifestyles.
