The teams of the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, Public Works Authority, Municipality, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Social Development and Family, the General Authority of Customs, and the Ministry of Sports and Youth qualified for the quarter-finals of the seventh edition of the “Sports for All” Championship for Ministries and Authorities in futsal, organized by the Qatar “Sports for All” Federation under the guidance of the Ministry of Sports and Youth. The matches are held at the Lusail Sports Hall.
The eight teams advanced to the next stage after the conclusion of the first group stage, which witnessed strong competitive spirit and good technical levels, with a total of 51 goals scored across twelve matches.
Four decisive matches were held the evening before last, resulting in the Public Works Authority team defeating the Civil Service Bureau team 3-2, while the Ministry of Social Development and Family beat the Ministry of Justice team 5-0. The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and the Qatar Media Corporation teams drew 0-0, and the General Authority of Customs won 5-0 against the Museums Authority team.
The group stage matches were full of challenges among the ministries and authorities’ teams, given their high skill levels. The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs topped Group A with four points, followed by the Ministry of Interior in second place with three points, and the Qatar Media Corporation in third with one point. In Group B, the Municipality led with six points, the General Authority of Customs was second with three points, and the Museums Authority remained third without points. Group C saw the Ministry of Sports and Youth finish first with six points, the Public Works Authority in second with three points, and the Civil Service Bureau without points. In Group D, the Ministry of Social Development and Family topped with six points, the Ministry of Justice was second with three points, and the Qatar Red Crescent came third without points.
The organization of the championship supports and promotes the efforts of ministries and government and private entities in hosting sports events and tournaments for employees throughout the year. Participation is limited to registered employees of the ministries and authorities. Participating entities in the current edition of the “Sports for All” Championship for Ministries and Authorities in futsal will earn 20 points, counted towards the State’s Sports Day Award, which will be announced during the Sports Day events.
Through this championship and other diverse activities and events, the Qatar “Sports for All” Federation aims to encourage all segments of society to engage in sports and physical activity through a comprehensive annual calendar that includes more than 750 community and sports events this year.
