The National Sports Day Committee announced that it will continue to receive and monitor sports activities organized by ministries, government entities, and private-sector institutions for their employees, with the aim of evaluating and including them in the second edition of the National Sports Day Award 2026. The winners will be announced during a ceremony to be held on 1 February next year.

In a statement issued today, the Committee called on ministries, authorities, and public and private institutions to continue participating in this national initiative, which aims to promote healthy lifestyles, foster a culture of physical activity, and encourage healthy and active work environments, thereby contributing to public health and strengthening the spirit of sport within society.

The Committee emphasized that the award recognizes the efforts of national institutions that support community sports and their role in promoting sports culture and integrating it into the workplace and daily life. It noted that participation requires registering event details through the Ministry of Sports and Youth’s website, with submissions being evaluated within seven days from the beginning of the month following the event.

The Committee also stressed the importance of promoting sports activities through social media platforms using the hashtags #IChoseSport and #SportIsLife, while tagging the State Sports Day account (@QASportsForAll). Participating entities are also required to document their activities through photographs and videos, publish them on their official accounts, and complete the event registration form, including event details and participant numbers.

The Committee explained that points for the award are calculated based on four main criteria: the number of events organized, the duration of those events, the number of participants, and the extent of an entity’s participation in other activities included in the Sports for All calendar. The Committee also underscored the importance of complying with safety and security requirements and ensuring the availability of the necessary equipment and medical teams.

On the sidelines of the National Sports Day 2026 celebrations, the Ministry of Sports and Youth honored the entities and individuals who won the first edition of the award for 2025. The Ministry of Interior secured first place.

The second place was awarded to the University of Doha for Science and Technology, while Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development came in third. Individuals were also recognized for their continued participation in community sports activities.
